Default Driver Door Mirror glass replacment ?

Hi i had a body shop tell me that they don't think just the glass can be replaced on the mirror which has to be insane i would think just the glass should be able to be replaced.
Mine on my 2016 is starting to have a mark that is leaking through the mirror one mark and you can tell the auto-dimming is leaking through where this mark about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch long and its annoying so i want to fix it and i can't believe this happens only a few years old.
my 2007 Lexus with auto-dimming never had this issue my 2000 Cadillac with auto-dimming never had this issue and i owned both of these cars for 12 years so i have had this 2016 for 4 months and its just 4 years old kind of upset this happened and i know the Lexus will most likely claim wear and tear and not a warranty item. but can't belive the mirror glass cant be replaced is this because the shop has probably just had bad expericnes and always breaks or damages them and doenst want to do it or can it just be replaced alone?
replacing the entire mirror assembly with a matched color one is just to much 600 or something for a new one and trying to find a used one that is in good shape on the pain and doenst have to be painted to match is to annoying id rather just be able to find the cheapest used one out there that is a diffent color and pull the glass from it if can safley be done and replace that in mine/

You can replace only the glass. It is expensive though.

i am going to look for a used mirror assembly and then pull it off any suggestion like how would i remove it safley without damaging the taps on the replacment pieces ?
like i can go on car-parts.com or ebay probably and find a mirror assembly for probably a a few hundred which is cheap than spending 600 for a entire new mirror

You mean the passenger outside door mirror has auto-dimming capabilities? I didn't know that. I have a 2014 ES.

went to Lexus yesterday where i usually get all my service done only thing i dont get from Lexus is my tires and my wheel alignment and the manager understands id rather have those two from the same place where i get my 3-year alignment package from. but all my other services i get from the dealership.
this is why out of warranty the service manager is going to go to his boss and get approvals to replace the mirror this is why i tell people sometimes its a good thing to be loyal to a dealership service yeah sometimes it will cost more but the dealership will notice it and also Lexus will notice it and usually one of them will help with work thats not covered because out of warranty.

I changed a mirror on an RX I had. It was fairly easy. You have to move the mirror by hand enough to get a couple of fingers behind the left edge (driver side) and pull. It just pops out of the clips. Ebay sometimes has them used. Be sure to pay attention to auto dimming and or heating options vs a plain mirror. You may even find that other models use the same part number like Avalon or GS possibly.

Yes and No so what lexus did is exactly what i figured they would do. They without any hassle was lexus agreed to pay for the mirror if i paid the labor.
i saw the invoice for the entire amount including what the dealership is going ot bill to Lexus customer service for reimbursement it was 560.00 for the mirror and i paid 62.50 for the labor they just replace the glass not the entire mirror assembly. my car is a 2016 it had just about a few miles under 70k and i consider it very much the exact reason i keep staying with Lexus because they do what no other company would do and they take care of there customers that are loyal to them but this also means going to lexus for service and maintenance not just buying the cars.
thats why i go to the dealership for oil changes and other things.

Awesome resolution. My recent dealer experiences have been disappointing, I still have 2 yr of warranty left for them to turn around their customer service. 20 years ago, a Lexus salesroom and waiting area would be top notch with attentive staff. Of course, dependability and fair policies are the foundation
