Take it from me....if they could put it in drive....it's gone. I'm sure a proximity beep went off but it wasn't enough for me to pay that much attention to it. That's what surprised me...the lack of an annoying beep.

Thanks! I did check out the thread and it was compelling but I opted for a fob on ebay for $80 bucks...I think, and another poster on the forum pointed me in the direction of a trusted Connecticut locksmith he used who will do it for $75.00. That included programming and cutting the little metal key. I feel that's a bargain all day long.

Now, if I pull another moronic move....I'll probably do it myself. I really hope that isn't necessary though.

Perhaps a secondary benefit of the much maligned remote start? As long as I have my phone with me, I can start the car. Now to be frank, I have never tried to put it in gear and drive away after starting it remotely so I guess there is a good chance it won’t even go into gear. Or I would just get out to the interstate and hit the ten minute limit and it would shut down. I guess I am going to have to experiment with that...

It will shut off when you open the door, when remote started. Have you never used it?

Yes, I have used it quite often in extreme temps. And I have unlocked the car with the remote app, sat in it, locked the doors and started it from the app once when my wife was in her office building with the key (and I was cold and wanted heat). I just didn’t try to put it in gear and drive it after starting it with the remote app so I do not know if that is possible.
