Default Key FOB

I bought a 2002 Lexus E 300. It has both the key fob and the valet key on a ring. The valet key turns the ignition but the key on the FOB won't go in the ignition because it has no indentations, just straight bars. It looks like someone took the flat key and put it on the FOB.

Greetings Raven 316,

I agree with your assessment that a blank key is attached to the fob. I'm curious about the key you describe as the valet key. Is it gray? Will it open and lock the glove box? Will it open and lock the hatch behind the arm rest in the back seat? Valet keys are gray and will not operate the lock on the glove box and the locking hatch to the trunk. I have a 2003 ES300 which came with the fob key and the valet key. I purchased a master key without the fob and a wallet key from 1010keys.com which I found on Ebay. They made keys from a picture of my fob key as I didn't know the key code.

I hope this helps.

You'll likely have to get the key cut at a dealership or locksmith.

You can program it yourself if you've got a $20 techstream cable:

Here are the keys I have. I sent a picture of the broken one to 1010keys and they gave me the number if what I needed to order so I did. I wrote back and sent a picture of the other tow keys trying to understand what I had and the 1010keys reply was a but terse. He wanted to know why I asked about one thing and, after I ordered, sent pictures of other keys. I assumed him I wanted what he was sending. Thanks for the input.
