Default Outside Mirror difference

So the driver's side mirror got damaged. I wasn't about to go to Lexus for a new one. I know they are expensive. Anyway, as I've done on other vehicles I have, I looked on fleabay and saw an original mirrior. Ordered it and got it painted. Body shop offered to install it cheaply and so they did. To my amazement, it is different. It is slightly larger. I actually like it being that my rear field of vision is more expansive. This being my mom's car, she isn't happy. The passenger side mirror, fortunately (LMAO) is slightly damaged, so we are debating on whether to get another OEM mirror from ebay, get it painted and installed.

I saw this thread; 2007 vs 2008 ES . I wish I saw this before I got the replacement mirror.

Passenger vs Driver mirror

Panoramic view. So, according to the above mentioned thread, Lexus changed the mirror from 2007 to 2008 ?? Anyway, if they reduced it, I honestly don't like it. I much prefer the larger one.

Yes, the larger mirror was only on the 2007 ES, in 08 they reduced their size. Reasons were visibility issues around the larger mirror and wind noise.

Ungh this is the kind of thing that isn't obvious to the casual observer but can drive you nuts because you know about it and always notice it.

Are you replace 2008 es350's mirrors with 2007 es350's mirrors?.?
I would like to know if the 07 mirrors fit the 08 so I can do mine! please let me know by email: ducpho10@yahoo.com.
Thanks

I did, but inadvertently. I didn't know the larger mirrors were for the 07s only. (customer complaints of wind noise? stupid if you ask me). When I had them installed, only THEN did I realize the mistake I had made. The 07 mirrors obviously physically fit and the harness is the same.So to answer your question, YES, they are interchangeable.

This ES was recently "kissed" at a parking lot and the 07 mirror was damaged. So, I let the insurance take care of it and the original mirror size (correct one for 08 model year) was installed.

So kids, do your homework before DIY, LOL.

To keep this thread updated. This ES was lightly "tapped" in a parking and so this incident was reported to the insurance co. They repaired everything and this mirror was replaced (it was damaged). So then, crazy experience. Thread over, LOL>
