My 18 YO daughter was driving my 03 LS, swerved right to avoid hitting a cat in the road and struck a mailbox with the passenger side mirror causing the glass to break. The mirror still folds and moves as normal. I clayed the mirror case and got most of the scratches out. Should I go to an auto glass shop and have a new mirror installed w/o having to buy new mirror? Mailbox and cat are fine BTW.

 

Mirrors are coated on the back with some kind of element for heating and adjusting day night view. You will need OEM mirror. You can find one on eBay for less than $100. Easy DIY replacement.

 

Ebay.... for sure... the electrochromatic feature died on the driver's side and I'm looking for one also... cheaper than OEM, mirror alone there is priced at over $220...and that is with my discount. Unbelievable.... good luck.
Instructions can be found on the forum for popping the mirror off the housing...

 

I have an 2001 and found a mirror on eBay from lativa for $130..had the dealer put in for$50 bc I don't have tools to take off the door... all good now
