So long and short of it...some ******* decided to slam his car door into my mirror and not only did he scratch my mirror leaving paint on the outside of the mirror but he also shattered my mirror! I called around to get a replacement mirror and after asking me if my mirror was heated, and after telling them yes, they told me that was odd for some reason I know the mirrors get heated but is it the actual glass or some type of plug in?

If anyone knows the rate of replacing the mirror itself, fill me in...

And if anyone is living in the STL area, any recomendations as to where I should go or call?

I believe all of the mirrors are heated. The question is whether or not they auto-tilt and auto-dim. I busted one of mine a couple months ago. I found a replacement at a local junkyard.

If you are just looking at the mirror glass itself, some are heated AND auto dimming...just be sure to get the right one.

thanks guys, it looks like car-parts.com only sells the whole mirror as a whole. Im looking for just the glass. I will try to get hold of a salvage yard and see what I can find

You can find them on ebay, but they're not real cheap there either...

Just to note. The convex ones are not the ones which are used in North America. You need to look at the schematics in Sewell to get the correct one.

Since the mirror is scratched up, could you claim get a new mirror assembly? The new mirror assembly is painted from the factory.

I broke mine when replacing my puddle lights but I found just the replacement glass (heated) from amazon for $48 bucks. They were simple plug and play and I'm glad I didn't drop $250 on a new mirror. Just make sure you get the correct size

I would still buy a used mirror off ebay or a junkyard. I never liked those aftermarket stick on glass. Most do not look like factory so it stands out.

If you puchase from Sewell (assuming did a claim on the insurance), get a whole new mirror aseembly. It comes with factory painted from Japan, and has the mirror included.

My mom's 99 Camry, assembly and mirror was cracked when soemone decided to open their door (parked facing the other way) when my mom was reversing out of a parking spot recently. The autobody shop just ordered a new mirror assmebly from Toyota and it was done.
