Any easy way to clean moisture inside the headlight unit?? How the heck does it get there anyway?
Both my ES330 and ES350 have had that problem

 

If moisture is inside there, it usually means a bad seal somewhere - or there might be a tiny crack from road debris. Headlight housing should be replaced. (That's the EASY solution, although not cheap)

If you want to attempt to fix it, you'll need to remove the entire assembly first. Then what people usually do to remove the lens is to put the assembly in a warm oven for a few mins...(seriously!) This softens the glue and allows you to separate the lens from the housing.

Then you can attempt to repair and reseal it properly.

Keep in mind this is usually done on cars w/o the electronics our cars have - so if you have the swivel headlights this might not be the best idea.

I've used the oven method to separate a tail light housing/lens on my motorcycle and it worked great w/o any damage.

Maybe you should go down to "What would your headlight mod be" and message the guy as to exactly how he disassembles and reassembles and what 'glue' is compatible with the 'black tar adhesive'. Maybe he could advise since he seems to do this stuff. Think all you need to do is to disassemble, dry-out and put back together so it won't leak again. If a crack in back housing, maybe silicone sealant
would work.

 

Is this covered by a SB? I had this with my RX and it was covered by an SB at the dealer. Seems like a common Lexus issue?

 

This would definitely be covered within 50,000 miles----anything is except normal wear/tear items

 

I'm the 'Headlight Mod' guy. I'm no expert but I have taken some headlights apart. If the car is under warranty, take it to the dealer.

If you're on your own, I would personally try using a hair dryer and some tubing to blow warmish air through that bulb sockets. That should gently remove the moisture without the hassle of bumper removal and oven baking. I wouldn't use high heat because of the danger of melting the plastic.

I'm still working on the modified ES350 headlights. I have some stuff on order and I'm probably going with hidden LEDs.

 

it would be better if you take it to a pro bro. you ould try with the hair dryer but it will come back because the leak is still there. YOu need to determine the leak and seal it after you blow warm air. good luck

 

I just noticed this after the first rain in LA in a long time. I made an appointment with the dealer on friday. My expectation is that they replace the headlight assemblies.

 

Sometimes there are replacements on e-bay motors website.

 

just got a call from my local service advisor......they will replace my leaking passenger side headlight FOC. '07 out of original warranty but CPO car with very low mileage, 23000

 

dealer is replacing both headlights under warranty, but they have to order the parts.

 

Definitely sounds like a warranty issue.
