Have cold start engine noise. Sounds like Diesel for 5-10 minutes. When outside temp is below 50 Deg happens all the time when engine is cold. Didnt notice much in warm weather.
Car in shop "My dealer in Dayton" today for second time.
First time diagnosis "Could not duplicate".
Also had 2 instances of transmission flareing in 2nd or 3rd gears.
I will post any diagnosis or changes.
Have 8100 miles and did not notice noise for first 4000 miles.
Had Nav Unit replaced and XM radio replaced.
Otherwise all ok. My Poll was to determine if any of these issues were fixed and possibly what was done to fix them.

Reason: Clear up Poll intent
Sorry to know you have this diesel engine sound to engine issue several of us are dealing with.
I wish you the best with it as I have not had any luck in getting it resolved even though it was prior diagnosed as problematic valves in need of repair.
I have a feeling many more are going to raise this issue now that cold weather is approaching as it is directly tied to coolness of engine, though progresses to point where it presents in a milder form of clacking noise at hot in idle in addition to the worst of it right at start.
Trying to find out how many people have had fixes for two most serious issues in my opinion. I would gladly trade my problems for wind noise, nav, wipers, or any others.
