Default Startup noise poll

Lets see if we can come up with some common characteristics of the 'startup noise' issue.

I tried to limit the number of choices..but thought the main categories would be

Oil Viscosity
Engine Temp when it occurs
Frequency of occurence
Engine

I am sure there are others..so feel free to comment on other things we may have in common

The only noise that I can hear is when the weather is really, really cold. I hear a hard tick-tick-tick or knocking sound coming from the engine. Once it warms up, it goes away.

Can you describe this "engine noise" other than the typical grumble when you turn it on...

I just got my car back from Lexus of Wesminster to fix my engine rattle problem. It took them 2 days to get everything done and it seems like they changed a lot of stuff. I see they changed the fuel pump and alot of "gasket" but I have no clue what it is. The only problem i have right now is that my driver door auto power window doesnt work. When i hold down the button but it doesnt auto roll like other three and the the light flashes on the button. Anyone with this problem?

it's at the startup, you hear a noise like your starter is running while the engine is running. It a noise of metal grinding on metal noise.

I believe the poster of this poll is talking about the noise that is addressed in the cam actuator TSIB, the one that sounds like a chain being pulled out of a plastic milk bottle really fast for about a second after the engine is started.

This is correct^^^ If I can hijack a different thread...follow the link in this thread to hear the sound. If someone has the TSB..please post it as well.

It could happen to any and all IS and GS cars with the 2GR-FSE.

If you think you have this noise call your service department. They are well aware of it and this issue was so bad at one point the parts were on back order. Just make sure they replace all seals and the intake and out take cam or else you'll be going back.

I've had mine fixed for almost five or six months with no issues. If you look at the thread *engine cranking noise* which should probably be sticked it explains the noise, where it comes from, and I even posted the parts they ordered from my invoice. If its going to happen you can't prevent it, its a flaw..

The only startup noise I hear is the ROAR of the engine when the start button is pressed.
