Ok so Friday night after getting home from my girl's house, im pulling into my drive way and as i turn the steering wheel left, it locks up. i couldnt turn it anymore, i had to force the wheel, when i finally got it to turn i heard a loud pop and then the wheels finally turned. when i turn to the right there is no problem, but when i turn left at low speeds the steering wheels locks up and its very hard to turn, but then after forcing it i hear the loud pop again and then it turns. now if im going faster and i turn the wheel, the car barely turns, i have to turn the wheel twice as much to get it to turn how i want, and it feels like i may lose control all together. another thing is when im braking or turning left it feels like my wheel is wobbling. WTF is going on ?!??!?!? are my CV joints screwed or is it something else like maybe the power steering? someone plzzzzzz help out, give me any advice u can before i completely lose control of the car !!

You will need to lift the front wheels and place the vehicle on jack stands.

Then turn the steering wheel and watch the lower ball joint for excessive play in the ball socket.

Listen for binding in the strut.

Observe the tie rod end and steering arm as it moves in it's bellows seals.

Place the vehicle in neutral, turn the front wheels by hand and observe the CV joints in their sealed boots.
Two per drive shaft.

The problem should be obvious.

bout 3 months ago used to leak brake fluid because of damaged hose but i had that repaired, since then no major leakage. i saw a very small amount of fluid on my drive way but im thinkin it might be from the a/c

DO NOT drive this vehicle anymore it is not safe.

You need a new axle on that side as it is completely gone.

heres the problem, i need to drive it to get to work, just for tomorrow, and on friday im taking it in for repairs so i need to drive it again. i have no other car to drive in the meantime, but iv noticed the tire only turns independently when im turning real slow, it gets stuck, then i force bak over, but when im goin over 10 mph it doesnt happen, jus feels like i have to turn the wheel more to get it to go. i really hope nothing happens from here till friday .

PLEASE FOR GOD SAKE, PARK THIS CAR IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!! You are putting yourself as well as the lives of others at risk by driving this vehicle in this condition. As DJdoughboy stated above, you have a broken axle and the car is unsafe. Just the mere sight of seeing for yourself, when you were parking, that 1 wheel was straight and the other was turned should be enough to make you stop and realize that there is a serious problem here. Only thing holding that wheel straight now while you are driving is the control arms, tie rods and ball joints and contrary to popular opinion, these items are not that strong. Please park this car immediately and rent a car to get to work, or in the worse scenerio, CALL OUT so you can go and rent another car. Please do not put yourself as well as others at risk b/c you are making a foolish decision. I do understand that this is your only form of transport to work but dude, please,,, there are other alternatives!!!!!

hey guys update: i took the day off work yesterday to take the car in, yes i did drive it lol, i kno its extremely dangerous but i decided to take the risk. i drove from kendall to Doral on the turnpike, pretty long drive but i made it, whoo !! well it turns out the axle wasnt broken at all, the problem was the rack and pinion, it was almost completely loose. well the mechanic was a friend of mine and showed it to me after he lifted the car up, he grabbed it and was pulling it back and forth, the only thing still holding it on was one bolt half unscrewed, hes said im lucky i didnt get killed. well anywayz he fixed it, changed my tranny fluid, and cleaned my intake, all free of charge !! i kno this was a really dangerous thing to do, but i did it, ang either im really f****ng lucky or God really loves me . but btw, the wheels werent facing different directions at all times, only when i tried to back in park turning left slowly, when i drove str8 the wheels would turn fine, jus turn really loosely. anywayz thanks for evryones help !! really appreciate it .
