Folks heading into debate and politics territory and folks will be booted or thread closed.
If you've already been recently warned for discussing politics, I am going to suspend CL accounts for a week. Not going to keep asking.

These conspiracies are getting out of hand. If people are blaming EVs for the rise in gas prices, its a severely misplaced assertion. EVs didn't increase gas prices....the higher gas prices are helping to drive EV adoption. Its the complete reverse. Most people that bought Teslas a couple years back weren't even considering gas prices as the driving factor. It was brand, performance, environmental awareness, and image that drove Teslas growth. I'd still are argue that the primary reason for a lot of people switching isn't even gas prices or environment...its just that EVs drive really well and are way more convenient to own for daily commuting duties. Blaming EVs for gas prices is highly misplaced.

If you really want a buttery smooth V8 and nothing made today fits the bill buy used. Dump a bunch of money into the car if you have to still way cheaper than new. This whole thing strikes me as the biggest first world problem ever there are so many choices, nearly unlimited.

What's your definition of obsessed? I can't remember the last time I brought it up on the forum.
As far as longevity, I would bet anything that a modern engine will outlast anything that came out back in the day. Maintenance was a constant battle, between 3k mile oil changes and 12k mile tune-ups, etc... If you didn't live it, you really shouldn't be talking about it.

I don’t hate EV’s at all. They’re all cars to me. I would love to have a Tesla Model S Plaid or Porsche Taycan but even lower end electric cars are out of my price range. I won’t be able to afford anything anytime soon and I’m okay with that.
They are becoming really appealing with the current crazy gas prices right now. If I had a cheap, fuel efficient car right now it wouldn’t be so bad. I considered selling my GS to get a cheap Civic/Corolla but now everything is priced way too high.

So I decided to take a little break and go on the Polestar forum to get away from all this bickering and fighting. I see this interesting thread about AC usage VS opening the windows. And what do you know...lots of bickering and fighting, back and forth insults between people who opens their windows vs who uses AC. Who even knew these two camps existed? Oh well, I could actually do some real work....
