Why do you hate EVs?
That is not a very long time. Maybe it's an eternity to you and me, but we need to not be selfish. Also, quoting someone with a vested interest in the industry is probably not the most reliable. It's actually closer to 47 years at this point. LINK
Can we chalk you up as one of the EV haters?
Can we chalk you up as one of the EV haters?
And you can "chalk me up" as someone who will buy one when they are better and will drive what I want until then.

This is the part of your post that interests me. Not what others think, just your thoughts.
I think a lot of the resentment today is that people feel that ICE and fossil fuels are being undermined to force EVs, hitting them hard in the pocketbook. I often see the horse and carriage to automobiles used as an analogy as to why people should convert to EVs now. But nobody had to go around crippling horses to get people to buy a car. Especially when you can't even get an EV right now. Long waiting lists.
Your thoughts?
I may be way off base but I believe a lot of "hate" for EVs is not really hate for EVs but hate for Tesla and in particular Elon Musk and tge cult following. I myself am not a fan of the guy and would not support him in any way for several reasons. The cult following just adds the cherry on top. This does not mean that every one that owns a Tesla is a part of the cult but let's be honest, some Tesla fans can be a bit over the top.
I would seriously consider an EV today if my commute was longer (currently only 10 miles round trip) and if I didn't live in an apartment. However, I doubt I would ever consider a Tesla. Elon being the biggest reason and i think every tesla looks awful except the Model S which looks damn good on the road. However for the money I would rather spend it on something else. Not that i dont think its worth it, but there are other cars I would want much more in that price range.

Awww I'm sorry my post was not directed at you or anyone and I am the king of putting my foot in my mouth and probably why I will be the first to apologize if I screw up cuz life has kicked me down and put me in my place so many times.
I have been lurking in the "General Chat"for 3 years before I had the courage to post here on a regualr basis and noticed there are a whole lot of members who do not post in this area.
It's very intimidating for a new member like myself to jump in and have an opinion on anything for fear of being attacked, especially in EV threads and I guess that is why I can see value in this thread.
Just to have a place for people to say why they hate EV's if that's what they wanna do- judgement free and maybe leave it here instead putting it every thread.
Add- might be a good thread to "Why I Love Ev's" too(judgement free) but just brainstroming.
That's all I have on that.
Anyone hate EV's?
Let hear it!
Tell us all about it!

For me, I'm highly moderate for the majority of aspects in life, an exception would be my dire-hard loyalty to Bay Area sports. That said any animosity towards EVs for me at least is more catered to the manufacturer than the EV itself. I find the Mercedes design of the EQS similar to a blob and not worthy of flagship status, I don't think Lexus did enough to the powertrain on the RZ450e (just like they hardly ever differentiate with their Toyota cousins), While I find the exteriors of Tesla's appealing, the Model 3/Y interiors lack a cohesive design - more tacked on in the name of streamlining manufacturing. But EVs bring something to the table besides silent quickness (unless it's a Leaf
), such as Rivian and HummerEVs with their unique tank turns and crab walks, EVs (and some hybrids) allow for electric motors on each axle or even each wheel, makes things more configurable. In the end there's going to be some good and some bad, to each their own, nothing wrong with that so long as people show respect for others opinions.I really want that Polestar 3

To me, there is a lot more anti-ICE sentiment from the EV crowd than there is anti-EV sentiment from the ICE crowd.
A lot of the anti-EV backlash isn't really against EVs themselves. It's against the push from many to force EVs on others that aren't interested, for various reasons. Or make their lives financially miserable until they do.

I too absolutely love the 40v and 18v tools I have; hardly use my gas powered leaf blower.
Cons EV
mostly I think they look ugly, interiors are very plain vanilla type.Quality is not good as lexus, not sure if they will last as long our cars last.
Prices are Higher than traditional cars, not enough choices for different segents
changing tech- EV technology is changing quickly, I feel the new EV I buy will be old in 3 years and I will be motivated to upgrade like an iPhone (better battery, range features) vs ICE cars which other than infotainment system not much changes
saying all that EV is the feature we like it not. I also just placed an model y order 2 weeks ago

I think EVs will get better. Battery powered hand tools stunk 10 years ago and I wouldn't touch them. Now I have over 30 RYOBI 18v and 40v tools and love them. But an EV doesn't fit our lifestyle currently, no matter how many people who don't live my life tells me it does. But they will one day, and I'll gladly switch. Doesn't mean I still use AOL and have a landline.

Hmmm... Ok I'll open up a little.
Am I afraid of where I see things going? yes
Does all the stuff going on in the world that is outside the scope of the thread such as world politics scare me? oh year, but that goes for EV and ICE and not appropriate for CL as I read the terms.
Am I afraid of electric vehicles? hell no, I'm a comp sci major and my place is deep into the guts of electronics at the hardware level. Could probably make a fortune repairing the electronics on them.
Do I hate EV's? I don't love them or hate them and that's why I'm here to see what others think and hear the arguements PRO and CON- but dam- NOT IN EVERY THREAD! haha
Do I trust new technology: yes and thats not the issue- that's a 20 dimension equation with variables unknown when it comes to the future of cars in general IMO they way things are headed and have no idea where the vector will land in that equation
Will I buy an EV?Not a new one that's for sure because I don't drive enough miles to make it a good economical decision for myself plus I really don't want the extra strain of car payments but that goes for any car I buy unless it is a Long Term Keeper and never plan to sell it. But that's why I'm here- to hear all the arguements. However, if I want to be preached at I can always go to church and don't need to be here. lol
Am I open to buying an EV? sure why not because I have a carport at my residence where I can run a breaker for a home charger to plug in if I want and most of my driving is very short under 5 mile trips.
Thank you for letting me share my thoughts- not an EV hater but concerned about "What Comes Next" like everyone else. haha

Most EV “haters” have never driven one. I’ve driven the Tesla model S, P100 D and its a blast. In Ludicrous mode, that thing is a rocket. Even my friends Model Y dual motor is pretty quick. One pedal driving, autonomous mode and most of all the auto crawl mode for stop and go traffic is amazing.
I love my son’s smog exempt ‘74 Corvette. The rumble of the big V8 is so visceral. Many say EV’s are soulless. I see what they’re saying but-if they had a chance to drive a performance version of the Model S, like the Plaid, I think it may sway their opinion a bit.
The proposed California legislation is to go 100% EV for new cars sold in CA by 2035. That’s a while off. A lot can change by then. These proposals are often more of a statement of goal than a hard implementation date. I think market forces will dictate what ultimately happens.
When people lament the possible prohibition of new ICE vehicles in CA in 2035, I point to Cuba. Look how they’ve not had new American cars since the ‘50’s and they’re still going strong on the road there. I’m sure Californians can do the same and keep them going for generations to come. Or until they outlaw ICE’s completely.

I dunno, I think both the lovers and the haters get an equal amount of digs around here.
