I agree with you. For me it's a tool. Although I am really finding it hard to sell my IS350. I'm hoping the current buyer backs out while I'm waiting for the title to arrive (the original got lost)
Sort of. Only because of the way the market is, if something happens to one of my other cars (like an accident) I won't have a spare. Plus I still have a lot of nostalgia for that car
so as you know I am thinking hard going all EV, ie changing all my current cars to Ev next couple of years. but since I have owned an LX last 18_ years which had been trouble free and other lexus cars like the GSF with its awesome v8 its hard for me to let go.

To answer the question in the title....I don't hate EVs. I just want more choices, more traditional interior layouts and perhaps a solid state battery.

If I were you, I would hold on to the GSF and not let that go regardless if you go all EV. I can always pick up another IS350 at some point as a weekend car but a GSF would be much more difficult. I would actually keep the IS350 but I already have 4 cars and when my daughter comes back from university in a few weeks I will have 5! Plus the IS350 is just sitting not being driven much, maybe twice a month it gets taken out...not right for a car like that

I'm indifferent to EVs, don't love or hate them. But as someone who really enjoys going to the track (not drag racing btw) on the weekends, I still think ICE cars are better... at least for now. ICE just offers more emotion and engagement. I have driven a friends M3P on track and while it does handle nicely due to a lower center of gravity, it still feels super heavy compared to my GT4. I know the M3P isn't a track car, but still, EVs are too heavy for my liking. Hope it's something that they can work on in the future.
As for a daily, EVs are better since they have a lower operating cost and are quieter. My wife and I will probably be trading our ICE daily drivers for an EV within the next couple of years. I'm just waiting for there to be more options...

I agree with you, If I tracked regularly I would just keep an ICE for that. Although my Polestar does very well canyon carving, due to the center of gravity it holds the roads really well and doesn't feel heavy. Does about as well as my IS350, which has all the F-Sport springs, sway bars and chassis brace as well as an ISF PS ECU. AWD with precision controlled motors also helps

I don't hate EVs, but the more and more they're shoved down my throat the more I won't ever drive one. Can the "pro" EV crowd not see nor address that fact? I resent that cars have been basically ruined because of CAFE, also.
I don't understand how/why so many people don't understand this. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
Does all the stuff going on in the world that is outside the scope of the thread such as world politics scare me? oh year, but that goes for EV and ICE and not appropriate for CL as I read the terms.
Am I afraid of electric vehicles? hell no, I'm a comp sci major and my place is deep into the guts of electronics at the hardware level. Could probably make a fortune repairing the electronics on them.
Do I hate EV's? I don't love them or hate them and that's why I'm here to see what others think and hear the arguements PRO and CON- but dam- NOT IN EVERY THREAD! haha
Do I trust new technology: yes and thats not the issue- that's a 20 dimension equation with variables unknown when it comes to the future of cars in general IMO they way things are headed and have no idea where the vector will land in that equation
Will I buy an EV?Not a new one that's for sure because I don't drive enough miles to make it a good economical decision for myself plus I really don't want the extra strain of car payments but that goes for any car I buy unless it is a Long Term Keeper and never plan to sell it. But that's why I'm here- to hear all the arguements. However, if I want to be preached at I can always go to church and don't need to be here. lol
Am I open to buying an EV? sure why not because I have a carport at my residence where I can run a breaker for a home charger to plug in if I want and most of my driving is very short under 5 mile trips.
Thank you for letting me share my thoughts- not an EV hater but concerned about "What Comes Next" like everyone else. haha
All valid points and probably where the vast majority of people are on EVs at the point.

I guess I just don't feel like they are being shoved down my throat. If I don't want to buy an EV, I still have a ton of ICE choices. I can buy a full sized gas truck or SUV, many available with V8s. I can buy a Supra or LC500, or an efficient Camry or Accord.
Someday that may change, but as you've already stated, there is a lot of skepticism about whether we'll truly be "fully BEV" in another decade and a half (or whenever).

Sorry, cafe standards is only an excuse. I didn't buy an EV because of CAFE standards, no one forced me to buy one, I bought one (actually two) because when I drove one for the first time I was so amazed and floored and blown away on how much better they drive than ICE, how much more power they have, how much cheaper they are to run ($30 a month in electricity VS a $50 a week fill up when gas was cheaper). If you don't want to buy an EV, nobody is forcing you, just stop with the excuses people make like blaming innovation on CAFE standards. Just don't buy one and call it a day! EV's are the next step in the Evolution of cars like the iPhone was to the flip phone.
Simple as this, as both an owner of multiple ICE and EV's and having driven probably hundreds of different cars over my lifetime, EV's are better technologically, they drive better, are smoother, don't need to be maintained like ICE vehicles, and that's why I chose to start moving to EV, the same way I moved from my Blackberrry to an Android smartphone...it was just way better than my Blackberry
