We don't all want electric cars. Lots of us don't like them. Lots of us don't like them simply because the tv tells us we are supposed to like them (that's a big reason of mine but not the only, lots more).
I would suggest this is a poor reason to dislike something. And can you expand on what you mean by this? Are you talking about TV commercials? Something else?
That’s a really good point. Nothing is really affordable right now. EV’s have become much more common in my city but they’re mostly really nice Teslas or Porsche Taycans. Even on the used market, it’s not much cheaper than new.
I don’t know if I want to deal with another car payment again. I’m not sure how so many people can handle these massive car payments for years.
Yeah, agreed 100%. The only EV's within 100 miles of me under 20 grand are older Leafs from 2007-2015. Not interested in something that gets 60 miles of range and takes 5 hours to charge that lol. That's hideous.
20-40 grand and you're looking at a Bolt or Kia/Hyundai trash that will catch fire because they can't build 'em right. It's a terrible market for EV's. I don't want to tie up all my money into some giant car payment when I'd rather put that money on my kids or other life experiences.
I'd much rather hold onto my 430 but the gas prices keep going up. 5.89 in town today. It's beyond frustrating.
Nope. Me being 33 has nothing to do with the fact that our engines from cars that we appreciate from the 90's and early 2000's were built much better than the crap that the EPA wants manufacturers to produce. That is why we want them. Yeah a turbo 4 might, on paper, get 1 mpg better than the NA V6 it replaced but it's not going to last as long. The V6 with turbos in the LS500 won't last nearly as long trouble free as the V8 in the LS430.
So again, what does age have anything to do with this? Are you another older person who thinks because they're older they are better?
I have more experience driving vehicles than you have doing anything. I would have guessed you were between 25 and 30, based on your posting history, so not too far off.
My point is, you gain experience and knowledge on things that interest you over time - EOS. Contrary to your beliefs, most cars in the 90's were garbage, with a few exceptions. Only time will tell how well these current engines hold up. Just blatantly stating that they won't last as long is just your opinion and not a fact.
I guess to stay on topic, can you answer the question of why you hate EV's? It seems like you hate anything that came out over the past ~15 years.

I already stated why I dislike them. I don't want a giant car payment and the only things within 100 miles of me are awful things like an old Leaf, a Bolt that's a disaster, or Kia/Hyundai products that are cheap quality and will likely catch fire. That's it for under 40 grand. Anymore than that and I can find a 4-5 year old Tesla with a bunch of miles but I don't want one of them either.
So it's really the supply issue and affordability of them.
Other issues that are relevant but not as major as the above are charging times and fire risk.

True story. In 2019 a guy who used to work for me was looking to replace his 2010 E350. He had only driven German cars all his driving years. One of our coworkers was leaving the state for another job and they were selling their LS 460 for a pretty decent price. Almost showroom new. He took one look at it and basically said, nah, I heard Lexus are junk. Never drove a Toyota or Lexus in his life. Walked away from it without even opening the doors much less sitting in it. I was seriously thinking of buying it but I didn't need a car at the time. He ended up buying another E Class for more money, and it's been in the shop a few times with some minor problems here and there. I never really cared that he prejudged the Lexus without even looking at it, but it just makes me think, what would be the reaction of some people here seeing that transpire

Definitely something else. Are you serious? We can't go far with this but are people blind who say these aren't being shoved down our throats??? Commercials are fine, just how rich does Regina King need to be though lol? She is an incredibly gifted actress...you'd think she doesn't need to do all these EV commercials.
There are no affordable cars right now new or used. A total shi... box is still not cheap. Around here almost any car below $3000 sells in an hour.
Same here is S. Florida.
If you want something cheap for a son or relative you have to beat the car flippers there from craigslist or people checking every 10 mnutes ready to find a cheap car, already gone in an hour or less on anything decent deals.
Interesting too, this extends into golf carts right now.

Some people get excited by wondering if their car is going to start in the morning compared to just having one that runs every single day without issues. I can't relate, that is why I refuse to look at other car brands, even though some are tempting.

I don't watch TV, and only watch a few shows that I pirate....I mean stream. Yeah . Any way I respect your not wanting an EV, but that reason just doesn't make sense. But if that's your reason, I still respect it

What platforms/networks do you watch that have commercials? I haven't seen one in months. Speaking of commercials Toyota and the big 3 spend huge $$$$ on TV spots how much of that is for electric vehicles I'm betting very little. And what about the number of commercials aired over the decades trying to sell ICE vehicles did that turn you off?

Pretty sure it's like this everywhere. I half dread going to Toyota to pick up parts the sales people come out of the walls and try to buy my car.
So the hate is because EVs are too expensive now? Its just a powertrain feature that some people prefer. It just so happens that its new technology so luxury brands are typically the ones that incorporate new technology and affordability is hard for some people. Lexus is a luxury brand and for a large portion of members, cars like Teslas aren't expensive...its just average. Its not meant for a large number of people...if they don't own a house and can't afford $50-70k, buy a cheaper car. Its like that with a lot of other types of cars...can't afford a Porsche, go buy a Supra. EVs have been politicized for some reason and really, its only just a powertrain feature.

Sticking to a car brand is fine. I bought nothing but Toyotas for 30 years. But people should be open minded and respectful to other brands and choices in cars people make. That's the 54 year old father of two adult kids talking from 54 years of experience
