Had the same thing with our Q7. About 1200 or 1500 miles in, got the warning that coolant was low, and saw that the reservoir was basically empty with just a tiny bit in the bottom. Dealer pressure tested it overnight and found no issue, refilled it, and it's been perfect for more than 40k since then. I have no idea where that roughly 1-1.5 quarts of coolant went either.
Same exact thing happened to our Macan about 10 months in. The coolant was below the minimum marking, noticed only because I was washing the car and opened the hood to dry it. The dealer added coolant on a Saturday and told me to keep an eye on things.
The car turns 6 years old next month and never had a similar occurrence.
Need your guys' input, I found a hardtop for my car. He wants $3,000 for it but I'm going to try to talk him down to 2. We have spent a fortune recently on unexpected expenses and vacations and this isn't the greatest time to spend thousands more.... however----I may not get another chance at this anytime soon.
Bottom line we can afford it though. Do I bite? This would complete the whole package, as a coupe it's in its most stunning form IMO.
Its clearly evaporating around that cap...I ordered another one.
Parts Dept. didn't have one in stock? If they fail that often, you'd think they'd keep some extra ones on hand....particularly if it is the same part # that other M-B products use.

This guy probably doesn't want to ship something that big so I'd offer $1500 and can always go up from there.
I believe in paying a fair price but it's only worth something to the right person.
I already told him I’d come get it tomorrow cash in hand just to show him I’m serious. It’s in Chicago, that’s not too bad.
I’m gonna offer 2 but I’ll pay up to $2500. I can’t find the measurements to see if it will fit in the Denali, pretty sure it won’t fit in our LX. Stand included.

No brainer, I would absolutely get the top and would be a great deal if you got it for $2k. Plus it’s an easy sale for the owner, you could drive your car there, put it on, then drive home. No shipping, etc.
It was just...strange. But, LS430 is a big Corolla reliability-wise so I wasn't worried about it after they topped it off. But where the hell did it go if there were no leaks?? None of us could figure it out. It didn't burn out.
Good question and I was wondering the same thing. I got my second low coolant warning in my X7 within the last year two weeks ago and I had to stop at the dealer for them to top it off. It was a little below the minimum level line and only takes a couple minutes but still a pain to go out of my way to go to the dealer for this. The service advisor said it isn’t uncommon for the BMW V8TT to need coolant every now and then but I don’t know where it’s going.
I ended up getting a $30 jug of coolant from the parts department so I can just do it myself from now on.

I know where it is going.....there are two common issues with your engine and coolant and I have two cars in right now with said issue. The coolant pipes leak at the lower seals or the after run pump stops working/works too little and the coolant still in the turbos flashes off and the vapor pressurizes the system and escapes via the cap leading to the losses.

Exactly, just drive it home on the car and take the LX also to haul the stand.
You will really appreciate having the top this winter AJT
