General Car Conversation
For all of the driving enthusiasts here, I went with my son to see the Gran Turismo movie yesterday. I highly recommend it, have to say I didn't really know what to expect but it was WAY better than I thought it would be. Had no idea about the story behind this, but it's a really cool (and true) story. I also think this is one of those movies you really want to see in the theater.
Steve - I like that blue color of the S class and the interior it appears to be pictured with (looks like baseball glove ish color) looks awesome. Would you consider that inside? And I was seriously hoping you were getting the i7...!
SW17LS, my favorite color of the S class you are planning to order is the blue and second goes to green. Whatever you choose, you really can’t go wrong.
Mercedes does an excellent job making even entry level luxury cars look premium. The exception is the CLA, which looks cheap to me. It’s still good enough to fool non car people because it’s a Mercedes. When the CLA came out, I had some friends who were technicians at a dealership here in CA (they left to make more $ in completely different careers) and they said the CLA was a nightmare for them. Customer reports interior rattles was a common complain and the techs heard them too, but couldn’t resolve them. Are they better than other cars starting around $38k? Difficult to say.

Yeah thats very similar to the Flaxen I had on my GS, I like that a lot too
Your call, Steve, but it looks like a lot of us are sold on that Emerald Green. Might heat up a little in the sun, though.
The truth, though, is that the dark blue, green, and red are all very nice.

Can not go wrong with Diamond White or Black. Those are the only colors I would get if I get a MB.
I know you didn't ask me but I trade in my leases all the times. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose... a little because I just want to get out of the lease.
Flaxen on a GS... Good old day memories. Best midsize sedan. Was your Liquid Platinum?

If I were buying an S-class, the Burmeister would be non-negotiable.
Although I never saw detached trim pieces of that to see what's inside, but from I've heard, it is a wood veneer with black lacquer finish on top just like black piano, plus the lines means extra costs for workmanship. I like the trim parts with curvy lines in particular, so elegant and sexy at the same time.

Cool deal, I honestly thought it might be plastic but was hoping it wasn't.
Wood veneer is not cheap to put in a design.
My dad was a master boat interior builder and they use the finest veneers for high end yachts.
Depending on the purse, high end exotics sometimes too and they line the whole interiors with the veneers on the big money yachts.
