I'm not sure what happens if you activate the car with the phone inside and then move the phone outside of the car, I can try it out. Maybe it does allow you to drive until you open the door - it could be a safety feature in the event your phone battery dies and can't be recharged that the car wouldn't stop driving. I'll try it and report back.
This is exactly the "explanation" when I asked MB rep why they don't have phone key. Then when I asked what about plastic key, he went blank for a minute then said... someone could steal it and steal your car. BMW requires you to place it on NFC pad to start the car. Once it's on, you can take it off. I'm glad they do it this way because their NFC/charging pad is crazy. It can over heat the phone fairly quickly.

That's kind of crazy. I know they probably don't want to get dinged and all but why? Just go off hour or park away from people to reduce the chance of getting hit. The chance is almost the same if you go some where else. But maybe that's what they tell you and not why they do it. I had a friend who bought a new runner. Then bought a new neon. He kept the runner at home for special occasion and used the neon most of the time... to save on gas/mileage. I'm sure he did his math but what saving is there? An extra car also means extra insurance and maintenance. Not to mention they drive significantly different.
I still think it looks better if not outright cool. Like a large wagon now
I don't mind lowered CUVs generally, some look great! This one is too low in the front though and I agree with the others that it's giving a blown air suspension look. The rear looks fine.

He's not saving one cent.
But, he may be planning to keep the nice car for a keeper and the other car is now just a throw away beater aka expendable Lol
Spoiler
Watched "Expendables 3" last night so had to use that word in a post today. Lol 😂
The giggles about my buddys Chevy Spark rental keep on coming. He was driving home today and it came a huge downpour, so he turned on the wipers to high. Both wiper arms immediately flew off never to be seen again lol
He called me laughing so hard I thought he was crying at first
Um, I'm in San Francisco and have been everywhere today and there are no more Teslas than at home.... in West Knoxville, Tennessee, I mean not really. I noticed that today, kinda crazy.
My God enough with the S Class lol. Its not even my rental car. Its just comical that he had this huge truck and they give him that little Spark lol
He says its literally frightening to drive on the highway.
Gotta have a Kroger car hahaha
Absolutely!
It's just so much easier vs having to pull something out of the garage/working about fuel dilution/operating temp on such on short drive. Plus the real perk is you can park RIGHT by the doors vs all the way in the back lol!
ha, that's funny... still, he sure will appreciate his truck when he gets it back!
not only looks stupid, but one of the reasons to have a cuv like that is easy entry/exit and less back bending when putting stuff in the back, etc. not now!
well my santa fe isn't as bad as a purple spark but it's a great contrast with the lc500.
The version you have is the nice one and it's not a bad car as a base....the spark is uh, well it's a car. The LC500 I'm sure induces some "whiplash" after not driving it for a while since it's so nice!
Oh yes. There are MANY houses here that keep an old beater to go to the local stores on my street alone and I know that's the case due to talking to everyone. Mostly it's the other car guys/people with high end cars since we all have "extra" cars/don't like using our nice ones for a literal 3.4 mile drive
Am I the only one that had no idea the Tiguan was ever available with a manual transmission?
Oh sorry, I should have been more clear. That was from a B7 A4 6MT that I replaced the trans on, the Tiguan got the suspension drop, rear brakes, fluid, and filters.

He legit just doesn't want to be bothered to start/pull out one of the V12s for a store run and to have a loaner car for people who visit. It's nice having a car you don't need to care about whatsoever etc

Are you serious? That's a recall level safety issue lol!
