I mean that sucker was loud, louder than my truck's fans. It wasn't bothersome or anything, but noticeable. That LS has a hell of a cooling fan. It wouldn't bother me if it was mine, just...I noticed. My truck's fan are a whoosh, this LS500 had a distinct sound.

But yes my 430 is never loud, fans always run as far as I know. They're such quiet cars, you never even hear them going even outside by other than the whoosh of air.

On my 17 ram I had, I simply removed the clutch fan entirely since it was not needed at all for my uses.
That's neat, I know cars but not the nitty gritty for a lot of stuff. What clicks them on? Anything to do with the thermostat? Does the drive belt run them? Like I said it's been 100 degrees and I swear they stayed on into second gear which I had never noticed before the other day.

Drive a creampuff LS430 around for 2 weeks and you won't want to give the keys back....trust me. As long as you don't mind old tech. You like that UZ in your truck? It was better in a luxury car, it was designed for LS first.

I do like it. Yes. But compared to my V6 which is tuned to be louder, the V8 is very boring as it is very quiet. Lexus was just very different in the 90s and early 00s.

I do know what you mean. But they pull on you. I remember when I got my LS, I was obsessed from the beginning but it grew on me more and more...and more. It just does everything flawlessly, you just guide it around rather than drive. Quality of these cars was stunning, along with materials inside.

Long term, the more quiet V8 makes for a better car as it its more satisfying. But I just can't get over how boring and bland Lexus was in the 1990s.

Lol I loved them all, except for the 1GS which wasn't my favorite. But it was certainly nice.

I think 1st gen GS looked better than 2nd gen. But that is not saying very much LOL. I can't really even tell the years apart. There is a GS at my place as someone owns it. Its in mint condition, it is very well built but I can't stand the bulbous look in the rear 3/4 where the back seats and the roof are. IMO

BTW I have noticed a lot of new posters---welcome to ClubLexus!!!!!

Jill, I loved the 2GS. It looked great. It was the first one that looked just all over the place. I believe they had Italians design the 1GS??? Epic fail.

I am very weak on my knowledge of the GS platform but people seem to praise them on here so I go with that.
From what I seen online they still want decent money for the older GS that are excellent condition, lower miles but probably still a deal.

On the GX's
Prices are crazy and over the top for most of the used GX suv's with high mileage and beater condition, asking crazy prices $$$.

.!
The GS was a nice car for sure. Some say it was the fastest sedan in the world at the time, which is not true. It was the fastest automatic sedan in the world at the time. I don't think its a bad car at all. I just can't stand the styling.

I think they disclosed that GS400 was an automatic. Because a stick M3 sedan was faster, you're right. Otherwise wouldn't it have been false advertising?

Pretty sure they got an M3 sedan at about 5.5 seconds 0-60. GS400 was 5.7 IIRC.

I can't imagine what a hoot both of those were, especially the GS with an UZ that was sporty. There is NOTHING sporty about my LS but the engine is just absolutely fabulous. From the ripping silk sound to the power curve.
