Quote: So I've been driving my father-in-law's 2013 X5 for a while. The passenger side wiper chatters really loudly on the way up. I tried cleaning it and don't think it's really old. Anyone have an idea what else can be done? I saw a youtube video where the guy bent the arm a bit to make them sit squarely on the windshield since his was tilted against the direction on the way up.
Check the edge of the blade and make sure the actual wiper is not "bunched up" and scraping. Mine was on one of the cars at one time.

Quote: To me the LC's plus is its looks. Its one of if not the most beautiful cars on the road IMO, it looks special and unique. This SL to me just looks like a nice MB convertible that will be forgotten once its time comes and goes. Future car collections will have an LC...
100%. The only car that's been out 6 years with no facelift etc because it absolutely doesn't need one.

I would choose LC over new SL.

We talk about paint jobs

here is the LC500 I saw today.

saw an old LS400.

look how perfect the tail pipes are. Nicely concealed and angled down

Over at Mercedes. They charge for a full tank of gas

stunning

That LC has beautiful paint. You will always have some orange peel, especially on bumpers and things of that nature.

The pricing on that S580 makes sense actually, I forget how different CAD is from USD. Adjusted thats $144,000 USD, which is about what a highly optioned S580 like that costs.

Now you see why I went with that color?

It is a nice-quality paint job, too. I've seen a lot worse orange peel on other vehicles.

I think our BMW's paint is slightly better in terms of orange peel, but only slightly. It's definitely not as rich of a color as Infrared is.

Is that the same red colour as your IS500?

Yes.

A few years ago I test-drove an RC F in the same color, and I basically promised to myself that I would get a car in that color one day.

Thanks. I wasn't aware the paint was the same. They did have a IS500 in the red in the showroom today. The raised hood is a nice touch from the inside view of the drivers seat. Interior quality is superb in contrast to the RX next to it.

I really, really would like to try a new RX and new NX. I want to get my wife on board with Lexus. She keeps waffling on what she wants to do. Maybe X3, maybe a newer 3-series sedan, or maybe just keep her current car... Meh. Honestly, I do like her car a lot and wouldn't mind if we kept it. But I also wouldn't mind her getting into one of those new hybrid NX or RX models so we can buy some of the fuel I am burning in the IS.

Anyways, yeah I do think the LC still wears that color the best of all the models it's offered on, but the LC could make tan look good.

Today marks my first time 1) driving on the left side of the road and 2) driving a manual with my left hand. Oy.

Quote: For the record, I loved the LC but honestly it could not hold a candle to the SL's breadth.
what do you mean by breadth? i sat in an sl55 and an sl63 recently. loads of eye candy inside and out but to me, the interior was just 'too much'. i prefer the simplicity of my lc500.
however, the new sl is an AWESOME car. for 30-60% more money. obviously faster too, but my lc500 is fast enough for me.

i also didn't want a convertible, so there's that.

but that blue sl you've ordered looks awesome. when you say you flipped your prior order do you mean you actually made money on it?

I find it amusing you think it looks too short given it's longer than the previous gen. I personally found the R231 to be gross and only marginally helped by the facelift. Ugly overhangs and an interior that became dated very quickly. Great drive though.
i agree 100%. that prior gen sl was just an awkward design. kind of a tweener on old design to new. the new sl is a bit 'plain' egg looking from the outside, but definitely a cohesive design, imo. i do prefer the lc exterior though.

He means dynamics and performance. The LC is the boat of the class and is nowhere near the same level but as you said, it's far cheaper and since the LCF was canceled it's all we will ever get.
