truly is incredible some cars don’t haveneed Apple Car Play
ftfy......
the more i go back and forth between carplay and tesla, the more i realize how limited carplay is.
with my tesla i can pin about half dozen app icons on the bottom of the screen plus it shows others recently used. carplay on my car? 3 icons on left side i can't pin.
carplay typically shows an app full screen, except for the 'home screen' with audio/map and maybe some other info or widgets.
tesla allows positioning and sizing of app content and never needs to use the whole screen so other stuff like nav, charge info etc. can still be displayed.
the icons on the carplay screen are comically huge with no adjustment.
i still far prefer carplay on my hyundai vs its lame built in system and wish carplay could also do climate controls and the main gauge display! i know apple has something like this on the aston martin so i know they can do it.
but it definitely needs improvement.

Don't know what my next car will be. This one will probably stick around for a while. I don't care for the G60. Not really into Audi or Benz. I could see myself going to a Mustang or Corvette for the next ride.
There are hundreds and thousands of CarPlay apps (with the same being true of Android Auto). They are the polar opposite of limited. And if your CarPlay app icons are huge, it will be because you have a small display. On larger higher-resolution displays they will automatically and dynamically scale. App icons and widgets are customizable.

Nobody needs CarPlay, but I still would have a hard time buying a car that doesn't have it
Apple Car Play is coming to Tesla.

Tesla ACP defensiveness reminds at lot of the excuses members were making for Toyota when Toyota was late to the Apple Car Play integration. That was like 10 years ago lol
Addition options are always good for the consumer. Don’t have to use Apple Car Play. Even worse is that Tesla charges for premium content on the maps or whatever. And Model S and X owners get it for free. Tesla 3 and Y = nickel and dime

Yeah my next car will absolutely have AA. I just had a specific requirement for this car that meant having to sacrifice it. I wanted an earlier model G30 for easier tuning and not having to deal with persistent start/stop.

Your observations of ACP are not wrong, but technically not Apples fault. Tesla designs the interface based on the screen size they created. ACP has to adapt to 50 automakers with different screen sizes. This universal ability hinders that they can do. As for Apple integration into other aspects of the vehicle, looks like automakers are pulling back on that. When it was announced, I think there were multiple brands on Apple's powerpoint, but so far only Aston after 3+ years.
