Weird! Mine definitely shows 4. In fact I snapped this pic in my E350 loaner I have right now:
So I got it updated to the latest 26.2 (from 26.1). Guess what? Still shows 3. I guess it's not CarPlay but the car brand. I'm not gonna lie... nothing beats the widescreen of gmap on BMWs.

I didn't know that's possible. It's really annoying when my wife screenshots and sends me a text. I think it sends four images. I know what to do when I get home tonight.
I'll stop handing my phone when the car interface is as fast and direct. It's not as good as me just holding the phone and executing commands that way, until the car interface has a way to at least tie that speed of interface I will continue to ignore it as it's just a drawback/causes annoyance.
CarPlay interface is as fast and direct as the phone. Thats the whole point.

do any of you guys use the 'widget screen' of carplay? i didn't even know it existed until very recently, lol. trying to see if it's worth using.
in the phone carplay settings, you can setup 3 'stacks' of widgets.
difference between the e-class shot above and mine is my carplay app icons are on the LEFT vs the BOTTOM.
Depends on the screen size and shape. On my S580 they are on the left and I still have 4. Although I drove the Pacifica tonight and it only has 3! Maybe it has to do with the height of the screen?

No it isn't even close, I have to lean forward, break sightline vs tasks phone to eye level, the car doesn't always respond as fast and if the car is moving my hand needs to be stabilized.
It's a massive PIA and always takes 20-30% longer or have I have missed inputs from not holding the interface directly in my hand/having less physical index over hand position.
I've installed enough of these stupid things and driven countless new vehicles with it and never once has it been faster or easier vs use picking up my phone and until that point I'm not going to waste time using a worse interface.

well sure, your s-class center screen is not a typical 16:9 car display so it's got loads of vertical height.

That just isn't my experience on any level. Manipulating your phone in your hand is just not as safe as using the screen. Its literally the same Apple interface.

the issue must be you because millions have no issue with apply carplay and recognize that using their phone instead is far more dangerous.

Takes more time to do and you need to look away more, that's inherently less safe as distraction is ongoing for longer.
That's one reason I don't understand why they don't use a fully integrated HUD system with a low center console mounted control interface than would allow no sightline break to use. Raising a phone to eye level is as close as we can get right now

How? How is looking totally away from the road, looking at icons and floating your hand in air, and using the interface better than raising your phone up in your right hand to eye level so you don't need to look away form the road at all?
How could you respond to a message like this on integrated CarPlay in under a minute?
Do you honestly think lifting a phone up to your face while driving doesn’t mean you take your eyes off the road? And why would you need to reply to a post on CL while driving?
