Why are our headlights laws always so far behind the EU?

Cars already come equipped with them, they're just disabled. Audi actually has a TSB to activate them once this became legal in the U.S. I hope other manufacturers do the same.

My 5 Series has Icon Adaptive LED headlights and on the window sticker there is a line "Decoding additional functions". It will be interesting to see if BMW will code them to get all of the functions. They are really good headlights now, but it would be nice to get them fully functioning.

It's nice to hear that Audi has the TSB to activate them.

We are finally out of the stone age. That's one thing I also remember out being in Mexico and the European vehicles there.

Audi, BMW, MB all have these systems on Euro spec models; why wouldn't they be available in the US quickly?

I'm pretty sure it can be coded on BMWs that have the hardware. I might try it on my wifes car, the software I have is back from 2015ish, gotta find time to update it and figure out which parameters to change.
