You are mistaken. The Lexus SC is a Toyota Soarer. Just a fancy Toyota.
I don't recall that really being the case. I'm pretty sure it was designed in the US (CALTY) to be a Lexus, but seeing that the Lexus brand wasn't yet in existence in Japan, they sold it there as a Soarer. So it was not a Toyota that they fancied up into a Lexus, but was born a Lexus from the start. I could be wrong, others here will know better than I.
But with that all said, yes, the original SC was a really, really beautiful car.

Toyota had premium rwd vehicles long before Lexus came around, people are just unaware as they were mainly sold in Japan. Lexus SC is just a top end Soarer. No different than a LX is a top end Land Cruiser

What about SC430? How does it fit into this family? I saw one the other day on freeway. Looked so new. I remember how hot it was when it first came out. High 70k?
All I know is the Supra platform was based off the SC.
Not really. Lexus wasn't a thing in 1978 when the first-gen (A40) Supra came out, based on the Celica platform. In fact, the actual model name was "Celica Supra". Nor was it a thing in 1981 when the second-gen (A60) Supra came out. Nor was it a thing when the third-gen (A70) Supra came out in 1986. The A70 was the first to be just called "Supra", rather than "Celica Supra".
Now let's talk about the Toyota Soarer. The first-gen Z10 came out in 1981, and was based on the A60 Celica Supra. The second-gen Z20 came out in 1986, based on--you guessed it--the A70 Supra. The third generation of this platform launched in 1991 as both the Z30 Soarer and first-generation SC. 2 years later, the A80 Supra--what we know as the Mark IV--came along.
So while yes, the SC did hit the market prior to the A80 Supra, if you trace the lineage it all comes back to that Supra heritage and platform, essentially unbroken more than a decade before the Lexus brand even existed.

I was happy to see one photo of a first gen Lexus GS300. I bought my 1994 GS300 in 2002 with 59K miles. I modified it quite a bit over the years. I sold it in 2015 with 222K miles on it. This is what it looked like when I was done modding. It was beautiful to me.
Any vote for this car? I love both this one and the previous gen. Looks like a dawn good investment. I didn't have a feel for the current one but it has grown onto me. Maybe I will get it one day... if my spouse lets me.
Was thinking of buying one a decade ago or so. Regret it now lol

I actually liked the MKII as much at the time.
I always loved that car, especially the 1985 model year with the rear spoiler at the edge of the hatch. I almost bought one at an auction long time ago when I was 16 and missed out on it because my father and I didn’t know much about auctions. It was a black 1985 with dark grey interior for $5900. Always regretted not getting one of those or a 1986 300ZX. I ended up with a 1985 200SX turbo.
