Thats what ours looked like inside. That was the black interior with the UL package, refresh 04-06.

Personally I always thought the dash of the 430 looked a little awkward and tall, with too many doors and panels in the wood trim. I preferred the 400:

I'm picking, but that's not quite the same as a US spec'd UL, the wood is different. In our cars here the wood turns literally black at the edges which is stunning how it goes with the black interior. You can see below in the rear door, but it is much more pronounced in the front doors, the burned edges where the black color blends into the trim but I can't find any pictures. I think it was called "Antique Wood". It is jaw dropping. Only in the CL and UL models. 430 does have a tall stack but it didn't take long to get used to. There are acres of wood in that car so it's fine.

You are totally correct, and I almost made the same point lol. Ours had that, the antique wood.

It's stunning. My buddy has one, looks great. But then all Lexus wood looks great. I have the regular Bird's Eye which doesn't have that detail but it is very bright and still beautiful. It's kind of a sharp contrast to his.

The only wood I've had on a Lexus I like better is the shimamoku wood in my LS460s.

Oh yeah. I'd love to find an LS460 with the bamboo wood, I think that might be my all time favorite. It would be a hell of a search to find one I bet.

This one looks really nice. A clean, low mileage 98-00 (the extra wood trim wasn't even standard until 99) with Nakamichi is as common as hen's teeth so I gave up looking for one.

A few things I like more in the 430 over this: steering wheel audio controls, the L in the middle of the wheel not chrome, seat extender, red needles on the gauges, and fold-out door pockets.

Overall styling I like the 400 more than the 430 but like I said there's no way I can find one. A real shame they don't make cars like this anymore.

On those earlier LSs, what I always remember being impressed by was the lushness of the carpet. My GS has great interior materials, and decent carpet, but not like the carpet in the earlier days of Lexus.

Yes, really excellent carpeting.

Any vote for this car? I love both this one and the previous gen. Looks like a dawn good investment. I didn't have a feel for the current one but it has grown onto me. Maybe I will get it one day... if my spouse lets me.

Couldn’t get a pic but just saw a 2000 SC300 that looked great. Power antenna working and everything. I hate that they changed the meaty steering wheel to that ugly thing from the then RX on those last ones. It was this color and everything.

About the Supra, many don’t know that the Supra actually came from the SC, not the other way around.

You are mistaken. The Lexus SC is a Toyota Soarer. Just a fancy Toyota.

All I know is the Supra platform was based off the SC.
