I think the novelty of that design is going to wear quickly. I'm already tired of it, and I've never seen one in person. Needed to come to market sooner. Too much time between the first view of it and people actually being able to buy one. I mean, it's been 4 years since he unveiled it in the infamous unbreakable windows video and when he started taking orders. That's a long time to maintain interest and hype.

Looks like Cybertruck will be a dud.

hard to fathom the amount of self-loathing required to drive something that ugly.

I agree, except I think it's going to sell about the same numbers as model S and X.

Whoever came up with that design should be shot. But not all is lost. It will fit perfectly on mars when we eventually colonize it

You predict Cybertruck will sell about 40K units a year do I have that right?

Franz von Holzhausen should not be shot.

On a technical level why does Cybertruck "fit" perfectly on Mars?

Just saw another Cyber truck on Montague Expressway near Great Mall parkway! Couldn't get a pic! Probably heading for the Tesla chargers in Great Mall. Third time will be a charm!

I think it's going to be a niche product like Model S, and I didn't mean he should be shot literally. The design is definitely problematic, Elon Musk has pretty much said so himself with his dug a grave comments. It's going to be more expensive to manufacture than anticipated. Again, on the mars comment you are taking me literally, as I was joking because it looks (IMO) more like it belongs on another planet than Earth. In other words, I don't like it's looks. But I still think is freaking cool and I get excited everytime I see one in person

It's a given that many of the preorders won't turn into orders because it was the 39K price tag that got people interested and the 39K cybertruck isn't happening any time soon (and likely not at all). These are going to do well, though, but it will take time to get the volume up. The real question yet to be answered is how many are willing to spend the asking price for the top trims because that's all you're going to see in the early days.

There are over 1 million pre-orders that means you think about 5% will actually buy.
The design is definitely problematic, Elon Musk has pretty much said so himself with his dug a grave comments.
He said the materials (shape is dictated by the materials used) make producing it in volume difficult his comment is not him saying they should not done it. Vastly different. Reusable rockets are VERY hard to make. Everyone said it was stupid to try and was impossible. How did that turn out again?

Anticipated by whom? How much should it cost to make? How much does it actually cost to make?

Hey man, I have hope in it. It was Elon who s h i t t e d on the Cybertruck, not me. If all those 1 million pre-orders hold, I'll beg for forgiveness and do 1000 hail mary's

That didn't happen. His dig your own grave comment simply means could have made a truck like everyone else instead went for innovation. Everything Elon does is a "dig your own grave" endeavour.

You sound extremely bearish, that's fine just surprised given Tesla's track record. If you have conviction Cybertruck is going to sell at Model X/S levels then get out of TSLA while you can.

You're taking this all way, way too personal. I think you know from all our hours of conversations my confidence levels in owning TSLA. The bolded comment shows that Elon needs to stick to innovation, and probably keep his trap shut, then TSLA will be just fine. Same with the Cyber Truck

We agree on this but I think I've complained enough about it.

I still don't see how you're bullish and think Cybertruck will sell 10% of what Tesla hopes. If that's me taking it personally ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm only making that assumption because everyone I know who put preorders on the Cyber Truck did so hoping to pay $40K. $80K (or whatever the price is now) is $40K more than most anticipated, and it's also closer to Model S/X price levels. If I'm wrong, I'll take my medicine like a man

$39,000 gets you a bargain basement trim Chevy Colorado, before the dealership pads it by $10,000. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see people bailing on Cybertruck and buying a vanilla Chevy. Also we don't know Cybertruck pricing.
