I still like this but ehh, it doesn't blow me away at all.
With the W223 there is a HUGE step forward in technology, and a wholesale change in approach to interior design. The Range Rover is the same way, there is a considerable change in their approach to design and an entirely new tech interface...I don't see any of that here. This car could be confused for the outgoing model inside and out. No way you would confuse the interior of the W223 for the old one or the exterior of the Range Rover for the old one.
No all new model should look like it could be 10 years old.

"There's a hint of lag off the line or when suddenly accelerating, but with peak torque available from 2,000 to 3,600 rpm, the 3.5-liter engine's mid-range performance is admirable. Partial throttle is the sweet spot for pace and refinement. Unfortunately, the steam it builds comes at the expense of the soundtrack, which is more present north of 5,000 rpm. And yes, the LX possesses the dull, flat throb of a V6. Fly, meet ointment."
Glad it gets it going well after turbo lag but meh.

Wonder if they would Lexify the Sequoia and price it below the LX. Now that would be exciting. But then Lexus will have the ES/LS problem again.
Let the GX be a true luxury offroader with 2 rows and shrink in size to compete with Range Rovers.

Off road this will compete fine and/or exceed RRs, it's just not blowing anyone away with anything else. It's not bad though.
That is the problem - you think X7 is quantum leap over LX, people who are looking for LX would never buy X7 because they consider it inferior vehicle.
And that is why they sell well in vastly different markets.
For instance, I am sure new LX will easily increase sales in USA by 50% but it will be nothing like GLS/X7/RR sales. And that is fine as it will also increase sales in Arab countries where it is often top 10 selling vehicle, and where RX/NX sell almost nothing.
It is very different vehicle.

the lx obviously isn't targeted at the u.s. market. as you say a very different vehicle that doesn't directly compete with anything here. personally i think this new version is a solid upgrade, although i think the front end is an abomination (better all black lol) and i think the stacked screens (hello acura and infiniti) is really poor, but the fold flat third row and upgraded stuff all over is good.
increasing u.s. sales 50% isn't saying a whole lot though.

Alex's opinion is about what we all expected- it drives more smoothly on road than before but is still very much a BOF truck. Third row still looks useless for non-children.
