He's probably noticed and observed it too. Not hard to do if you are paying attention driving who the bad drivers are. Its also scientifically proven that BMW and Prius drivers are the worst

It is, and that study corroborates.

There is no New York Times article. Its a broken link. I'd love to read the actual research.

Great article and videos below. Part 5 of the video is the best - self driving was always a scheme used to scam investors to save tesla from Bankruptcy.

Not sure if the twitter video links are posting correctly.

A bunch of self driving Teslas crashing in the same spot that a drunk 5 year old wouldn't have a problem navigating. Priceless.

What most people don't seem to understand is that there is no such thing as a "self driving Tesla" despite what Elon or what anyone else tells you. It's a "driver assistance system" and you need to pay 100% attention when you're using it as you have to take over as soon as the car is doing something you wouldn't be doing if you were actually paying attention to driving.

Driving at 25 mph and the driver couldn't take over in time to prevent that accident?? Who is this guy kidding? Where is the dash cam footage?

I saw that too but why go to the media if it was the drivers fault at the end of the day? I don’t own a Tesla so maybe I don’t understand why he couldn’t use some muscle and override the steering.

Exactly my point just above. This story has a lot of holes. I own a Tesla and actually pay attention when using "AP".

I couldn’t agree more, in any of these drivers assistance systems the driver just can’t expect to let the car do everything, it requires the driver to override as necessary. Really the only thing I think Tesla is at fault for is the name of their ASSISTANCE package because there are dumb people everywhere that will really think it’s autopilot and hands off. I’m sure other carmakers are too risk adverse to call their systems something as dumb as this because they know people are dumb. I also don’t like it because it’s such a marketing ploy for those dumb people.

That last accident was most likely driver error and the driver trying to shift blame to the tech.

The boulder looks like it is right on the edge of the road, for me it's more like why would someone even want to use autopilot on such a narrow road going so slow. I think driving myself would be less effort.
The fact that they weren't paying attention as much as was necessary goes without saying given the results.

These kinds of often low-context “exposés” are usually furthering an agenda one way or the other, and of course they are custom-created and laser-targeted to speak to which of our existing confirmation biases the content creator wants to leverage. In other words, if you’re already predisposed to the notion that Musk, Tesla and Tesla owners are charlatans, fraudsters and sheep then these videos are simply grist to the mill. The converse is equally true, and they provide proof as if it were needed to those on the other side of the fence that Tesla baiters are irrational luddite idiots who wouldn’t know a 9 second quarter mile and a genuinely impactful technological advance if they bit them where the sun don’t shine.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle of course.

Agree on all points. As they say, you can never underestimate the end user. and speaking of dumb, "auto pilot" is a dumb enough name, but what's more outrageous is naming a now TEN THOUSAND dollar package "full self driving" when it's nothing of the sort, sold as some kind of future promise of this ability. This has now been sold for what, half a decade or more, raking in millions of dollar and only delivering a fraction of what's been promised (remember turning your car into part of a fleet of robo taxis and making money with it? ).

the tesla 'self driving' capabilities ARE remarkable, as far as they go. what's wrong is how it was sold and hyped, to keep tesla afloat. It might not be a stretch to say that without the fsd hype and false promises, tesla might have gone under. It does constitute deception IMO.

Again, it IS great tech, but it does not meet its claims or promises and of course there's the usual weasel legalese fine print to avoid lawsuits.
