I agree that Turbo S+ levels of acceleration are ridiculous, but I disagree with blaming drag-strips for the fact that Tesla chooses to produce insane vehicles for street use.

If EVs are more about software than hardware, Tesla has a huge advantage. Silicon Valley software engineers are easily the best in the world.

But they don't allocate it as freely as Tesla does. Having money means nothing if you don't do anything with it. Look at the lack of innovation at Toyota as an example.

That is irrelevant. Toyota only needs to copy. Where they will lead is FCEV.

Toyota is what is becoming irrelevant lol. They've had decades to lead on FCEV, they totally botched that too. Toyota is just phoning it in at this point, I have WAY more respect for a company that is innovating and pushing the envelope like Tesla.

Lack of innovation leads to irrelevancy

If you put aside your passion for Tesla and your dislike of Toyota and just focus on $$$ and dollars and cents. All of the big brands as well as Tesla are trying figure out exactly what people are going to buy with EVs that have a battery. Once it determined what is going to be the battery electric standard, Toyota will come to market with exactly what the market wants. If you watch closely…it will probably be a high priced RAV4 segment type of vehicle.

Mercedes and VW are already doing this in the top end…Tesla S sales will never grow the way Taycan, Etron and the EQS will. None of these brands really need to exceed what the S is doing…they just need to come close and charge more $$$

The whole battery EV segment is 2% in the US.

Since when do I have passion for Tesla? I have never even considered buying a Tesla, I just appreciate the innovation and desire for growth.

As for the Model S will never grow like the Taycan etc will. Have you looked at sales? They sell 20 times as many Model S as they do Taycans. Regular manufacturers have to catch up with Tesla, not the other way around as you consistently like to pretend. Like it or not Tesla is a huge player and they are dominant in the EV market, a market that will only grow. Competing with Tesla is going to be very hard for Mercedes, Porsche, Ford etc.

Bottom line is people including you have been predicting Tesla’s demise since before they ever manufactured one car. They’re not going anywhere.

As for Toyota, I’ve been a Toyota enthusiast and customer for over 20 years. I don’t dislike Toyota, but I do think they are being poorly run right now and that their desire to sit back and just cash in instead of innovating and trying to move the industry forward is hurting them and will have lasting impact on their brand.

No pretending LOL. I said growth vs Tesla and not just sales, there is a difference. . Fact is, the EV Taycan is a growing segment for Porsche...https://insideevs.com/news/501628/po...sales-q1-2020/ Tesla S sales on the decline as their consumers have started to leave the brand at the S price points with the new emergence of Porsche and now Audi in the segment. Very soon Mercedes.

When the worldwide market gets to a certain point for EV market share...you'll see Toyota get more involved.

Have to agree 100% - Toyota is just being so apathetic about EVs, it's unbelievable why they are not trying to get in the game sooner rather than later.

They're just an old, bloated company who's time has come and gone unfortunately.

Friend, you are so wrong. By market cap Tesla is by far the richest car company in the world.
Tesla is 4 times more valuable than 2nd place Toyota.
