That must be the Canadian pricing.

The price delta is still the same in the upper trims, but that doesn't surprise me. Have to compare it with other EV trucks. Remember to there is a $7,500 tax credit on the EV too and FYI, my business partner is paying $130 a week to fuel his 1/2 ton truck right now, so thats $520 a month for fuel....it might cost him $70 a month to charge a Lightning at home.

$23,000 difference, less $7,500 tax credit is $15,500. $15,500 wrapped into a 60 month loan is $279 a month. So...even though the initial cost of entry is higher, in reality its not, it would save him money over a gas Platinum.

The tax credit is unfair. Won’t be there forever.

Why is the tax credit unfiar? The tax credit exists, like it or not and it goes into the overall purchase decision for this vehicle. It will be a long time before the federal tax credit dissapears for the F150.

Even without the tax credit, the monthly calculation I provided above you would still come out ahead. The $23,000 into a 60 month loan is $413 a month, adding in the $70 to charge it you're $50 ahead, and that will grow as the cost of fuel continues to rise.

Understanding the economics of an EV requires you to look at the overall cost to operate.

The purchase price is still too much. I get what you are saying, but people are not gonna pay MORE for a vehicle in place of no gas.

Well...they are completely sold out so I would say the purchase price is just fine lol. People are paying more for vehicles in place of no gas all over the place.

The correct thing to say is YOU would not pay more for a vehicle in place of not having to pay for gas. Many, many other people will and are already.

Are they sold out/? Or are they reserved with a refundable deposit.

The way gas prices are going, it's like 5 years worth of gas for that premium the Ford Raptor gets 15mpg and this thing would smoke it. Seems like the premium isn't that bad.

The entire model year is sold out. There is no way to order one.

And this is not unique to the F150 Lightning, all EVs are bought at a considerable premium over a similar gas vehicle with the tradeoff of not having to pay for fuel. For instance, I spend about $350 a month to fuel my vehicle, which means I could go buy a $20,000 more expensive Tesla Plaid and have my monthly outlay be the same.

You're kidding right. They have customers willing to pay $20k over MSRP for these things and hundreds of thousands are spoken for. They had to cut it off due to excess demand. Let's revisit this in 2 years and see who's right on this.

But they are not sold out. They are reserved. Can still back out. But yes, there will be another buyer if some doesn’t cancel the deposit.

They are sold out lol. If I wanted to go buy one I would be unable to. Can't say something is too expensive if they sell every single one they make...

I would gladly pay the premium over the regular F-150 for the EV version. In fact I don't mind paying a premium for an EV in any case, even without the tax rebate. The money I save in fuel costs and no maintenance offsets most of my payment. After fuel savings, minus insurance and registration, I'm paying $140 a month for a brand new car that can smoke 90 percent of the cars on the road, drives absolutely amazing, and is super quiet at any speed. So yes, I would pay more for the F-150 Lightning over any ICE truck

No, they are sold out. If they weren't, Ford wouldn't have closed reservations. 99 percent will buy it, and the one percent that doesn't, that truck will be gone to the next person down the wait list

You couldn’t buy one before. You could only reserve one (refundable). It’s just marketing. I think Lexus does the same thing for the new NX. A wait list is a better saying.

You're wrong. Ford dealers are calling and emailing people NOW to turn them into orders, and people are turning them into orders, it becomes non refundable. Thus, reservations are closed. Try to get a reservation right now
