Toyota Kills All V8 Engine Development
Yeah, I was amazed by the market penetration with the 3IS. Many young people who I didn't even know were much into cars at all enjoyed the 3IS and some have mentioned it was the 3IS that got them interested in the sporty side of cars. One of them even picked up a GS F after lease end. This makes Lexus' surrender even more damning, because there's nothing for these people to move to as they become older and wealthier. I noticed many of them moved to Audi.
It’s a shame. As I said in another thread, I have a deal on the table to lease an S560. One of the things that is holding me back is that my LS is the last V8 LS, and should I want to come back to Lexus, I’m not going to have a similar car to go back to...
Ive driven a bunch of 6 cyl cars and have tried to convince myself that they are fine...but they’re not. I want a V8.

Lexus 3.5 V6 is not as slick as Lexus V8.
Lexus 3.5 not as slick as old Lexus 3.0 nor Lexus 2.5 V6's either.
Just me though.
Sure atmospherics lack outright power and torque, but the throttle response, the delivery, the naturally flat torque curve and the NVH.
I would move straight from atmospheric internal combustion engines to BEV's....

Sigh, Lexus slowing fading into the sunset ala Infiniti. Our RX350 lease ends next year and I have been trying to coax her into a GV80, BMW X3 ETC as the successor. While she'd want another Lexus crossover I was telling her, everything in the lineup is ancient and behind the competition in tech etc. I can see many RX shoppers moving on to the GV80/GV70 once they debut.
Yes, that's the plan, have her drive and sample the tech and compare herself so it doesn't look like I am coercing her lol.
Lol, that would be a much harder task to convince her, that or my bias against EV.

Yes they do.
Tesla store close by me and they are always busy with ppl waiting on either test drive or pick up new car.
The driving dynamics of the Model 3 i tested were superb. Steering weight, handling, power delivery etc were so impressive. The tech is light years ahead of all other cars - Nav display, adjustments for everything. Its just a cool car!
