The Ram 1500 doesn't need air suspension. It rides smoothly and quietly enough without it....probably the industry-standard for ride-comfort among American full-size trucks.

After that, I would look at the Honda van. They are well thought out, with minimal lemon issues.
He brought an Odyssey home for his wife to try out. She didn't like the fact that it did not have the 360-surround for easier parking.

As for the reliability factor you mention, older Odysseys were reliable except for the sliding-doors. Newer Odysseys have had issues.

Welcome to CL as a new poster.

Car-Chat is not a Lexus-Specific forum......we have other sub-forums on CL for that, and for specific Lexus models. Here, we discuss, in threads, anything about vehicle and vehicle-manufacturers you want....from any brand, including Lexus. Several us, in this forum, do vehicle-reviews and write-ups of our own.

I've read conflicting reports about the Pinnacle not having Stow n Go. The Pinnacle that they showed at shows etc was a hybrid.

Going to be too small. I'm not looking for a luxury vehicle either, my wife and kids will destroy this car. Thats actually one positive for staying with a van, if its not a vehicle I really like and care for watching them destroy it will be less painful lol.

Got a pretty good price quote on the Odyssey, $40,250 on a $48,900 fully loaded Elite. Their lease numbers were way out of whack, but calculating it myself from the accurate residual and money factor payments should be in the low $500s which is similar to the Pacifica which is good. I do have a dealer quoting me on a Pacifica on a 2 year lease. Lease numbers on the Palisade are still bad because there are no discounts off the MSRP, would be better off buying that rather than leasing.

That’s why I suggested the Genesis. Their quality has really increased & they aren’t overpriced like all the Fords & Lincolns seem to be. Too bad the USA is getting the diesel engine.

As for the air suspension, yes, the 1500 needs it! The rear end squat on a Ram is horrible & throws the already terrible headlights into the trees. I miss having a truck, but I sure don’t miss the constant problems. I also don’t miss the absolute moronic service & nonexistent customer service. Never again!

A quote of $40,250 on an Odyssey Elite is fabulous and the lowest I've seen reported anywhere.

That's true about the show car being hybrid... i thought I had heard about the Pinnacle not having the stow n go during the launch, but can't find anything specific now.

Well, I'm not necessarily going to defend FCA.....they certainly have their faults....some of which you have outlined. The Ram 1500 has a well-deserved reputation for silky ride comfort, but, as you say, perhaps some of that is done at the expense of its coil springs in back (most trucks have firmer leaf springs) which doesn't carry a load as well.

I read that also, but then I also read that wasn't the case for gas Pinnacles.

If your family is that hard on a vehicle, I would simply get a good certified used van of your choosing & call it good. I’m blessed with a spouse that keeps her vehicle as clean or cleaner than my car.

With the Hyundai warranty, buying may be worth it.
