It doesnt bother me for this sort of vehicle either, but it wouldnt be a vehicle I would buy to be my primary car. For something for my wife to drive routinely and for me to drive on trips, etc it would be great.

 

I have long felt the same way, but if I'm being completely honest, lately I've been enjoying driving the Highlander more and more. Not sure why. It's just so comfortable and easy to drive. Maybe I'm just getting old.

 

Would you really trade your GS in on one though?

I don't know if these features are already on the current Highlander Hybrid but 2020:

A Predictive Efficient Drive : feature learns the driver's behavior and routes and, using the navigation system, optimizes battery use based on past patterns, adjusting for hills and traffic.

This is exactly what I expect from the Toyota brand. Great to hear the front windows are laminated and the front windsheild is acoustic.

Toyota is expecting 20% of new Highlanders to be hybrid, which I believe is a substantial bump up from the previous gen. I think RAV4 is up to about 25% hybrid, so I am thinking it's doable.

Is it just me or does the front look very similar to a Kia Sportage?

 

I just watched his review of the non-hybrid (posting below as I don't think anyone else has posted it). I like some of the exterior styling cues quite a bit - the sharper and sleeker headlights and tail lights remind me of the newest LX. The interior looks nice, but not as nice as the Palisade IMO. But... Toyota is the safer bet in my opinion over the Palisade from a long-term reliability standpoint. You just kinda know what to expect from Toyota, and to a lot of folks that's really important, so they may sacrifice a little fit & finish in exchange for the long term ownership experience. Overall, I'd say I am impressed and I like it. It's good enough to win a lot of sales in this segment.

Edit: Looks like Toyota is the latest manufacturer to borrow Acura's design cues of the 3D floating-block grille. I noticed it on the leaked Escalade shots as well.

 

Interesting. I don't see any LX resemblance. I like the exterior. I really like the uplevel interior as well.

 

The way they are designing the headlights to be sharper and really follow the angles of the hood line reminds me of the newer LX's. The tail lights having sharper angles and "thinner" (not as "tall" vertically), is very reminiscent of what they did on the LX to my eye. Seeing what they are doing with the grille on the Highlander is likely a preview of what's to come when the LX gets a facelift. The LX still uses the horizontal slat-grille design that was on the prior generation Highlander, so I suspect Lexus will change that up soon.

 

Watched some of the review videos. I like it, huge improvement over the old one. Its a real shame you cant display the map or Carplay over the whole 12.3 inch screen, makes it kinda useless.

Still concerned it will be too small for me but Ill look at one

I have a 2020 RX loaner right now, and one plus for the Highlander is this engine is more refined than the V6 in the Palisade/Telluride.
