I do think these new screen in cars and suvs are getting a little stupid. I mean, does everything NEED to go to a screen? I think Lexus RX from 09 got it right. Some of these new screen displays are really backwards thinking.
I thought enough of what the Tesla Model 3 has actually accomplished in the industry and auto-market to give it the Car of the Decade, but you are correct on one thing......the dash is certainly NOT one of those reasons.
^^^^^^^(and, BTW, we can discuss the new Highlander's dash all night, but it is nothing like that)

Ok. I would prefer to just leave Tesla out of this thread. I like the new Highlander screen. But I also like the days before there were screens as well. I think the new gloss Burton’s are so thing I do not like. But time will tell if they will grown on me
I don't like the center console/stack in that Hyundai but the dash/cluster is nice. And it seems like it would be cheaper to make, less components as a result less potential squeaks and rattles. I'm betting there is focus group data that says hey people like tablets and phones let's make it look like one in the dash.
To us, we think Toyota benchmarked the Mazda CX crossover.
Could you elaborate further? I'm not seeing any resemblance.

I disagree. The angle of the screen creates glare, making it harder to read, and harder to hunt and peck for the right area on the screen to tap. Orientation is also too low, leading you to take your eyes completely off of the road if you need to operate the screen (which becomes even more of a hazard if there is glare washing out the screen display). The integration on the Palisade is much better.
TNGA did wonders for the Camry, and I fully expect the same for the Highlander. I've been in a previous gen Highlander hybrid as a passenger, and it was very smooth and quiet already.

IS? Hrm, I don't agree. The screen is "in" the dash, not "stuck-on".

Problem with cubby navs, is that with Lexus's back to roots infotainment (touchscreen) its gonna be hard to make a screen accessible to touch and put into a cubby

r.
Like it is made more for a driver as it appears sleeker and looks a bit smaller than some of the others. Front end in person is more pointy and straight down like a Mazda 9 I find it in person to be similar. Maybe the pics do not show it.

I've owned one for two and a half years, and, even in bright sun, do not have any glare problems.
There are one or two small problems with reflections in the windshield and right-front window, but nothing involving the video-screen itself.
