Tesla unveils Cybertruck
My five cents.
First of all, its fugly as sin, but so are the american pick up trucks with their obnoxious oversized styling.
That being said, it wont sell. Rednecks are going to keep buying american trucks to compensate for their shortcomings, while soyboys are going to keep getting regular teslas. People that actually need functional work vehicles buy cargo vans.

Tesla pick up is in a weird spot. Tesla has a huge cult following amongs California IT crowd, but they dont have a purpose for trucks, so I feel that they will stay with regular Teslas. And Tesla certainly isn’t going to penetrate traditional pick up market, where buyers get American trucks as status symbols, no matter how ridiculous they become.
I did not think of this angle... Cheaper than S or X! Plus the top line option will have the updated PLAID electro platform. Cannot get anymore cutting edge than that. Noisy trucks can get overrated annoying in a hurry. I would imagine Tesla CyberTruck buyers will never go back to a normal truck after their Tesla experience. It's not about how much you can haul, but what you do differently and separate yourself from everyone else out there. The gas pump pain at 12-14 mpg days will be the first bit of welcome relief and enhance the 'companys' bottom line with lower maintenance, no gas charges. Do the math -- 400 miles at 12mpg is 33.3 gallons. Multiply that by $3.00 and you're arriving at $100/weekly or $400/month in added business expense. If it enhances the business' bottom line, it is a no brainer for any redneck.

Bro with all due respect I don't care how much you like Tesla or how many they sell. I do not like them and I do not like Elon Musk. They could sell 4 billion and I still wouldn't want one. The interior I thought was garbage other than the screens, and I mean glaringly awful materials and fit and finish. I don't want to drive an EV, either, I don't care how fast it is.

Well, since (apparantly) none of us on Car Chat, despite a lot of posted opinions, have personally ordered one, here's some feedback from a guy who has actually put a deposit down on one.
According to a (supposed) tweet from Musk himself (which he shows on his cell phone), as of the date of the video, 146K orders are already in so far, even before the official release.

And also, last time I checked this is a free country which extends to internet forums.
Where in god's name did I say I hate people who buy them? Could you please enlighten me?
How many times did I say it's a personal preference? I dislike Musk I think he's a fool but I don't hate him. Read up on his whatever plans for Los Angeles he thinks he's going to do. As someone who lived there, I can tell you it's all BS.

It was a very long thread, and the mods didn't shut it down for some time. I've got a lot of posts in it, so I can't list them all here.
Back to the Cybertruck (and the video I posted), I'm surprised that, if Musk's Tweet is correct, there are already 146,000+ orders for it.
