Let the debate begin.... we have Tesla haters, Tesla lovers, and folks who are indifferent on this forum.
The looks are clearly polarizing. An epic fail on the "break proof" glass... The exterior is made of the same cold-rolled steel that Musk is using in SpaceX for Mars rockets. A very interesting interior design - space age seats, unique steering wheel. The host of the video below comments on how spacious the interior is when he goes for a test ride. Price starts at $39,900 and goes up from there - and a new "Tri motor" will be available roughly a year after the initial release and is touting 500 mile range.
If nothing else, it will generate a lot of buzz. Thoughts?
I actually disagree. As strange as it looks, it's so unique and will grow on people over time - it's not going to steal Chevy, Ford or Dodge die-hards away. But I think it will have a niche of people who will buy it like crazy. I think Rivian will steal Chevy, Ford and Dodge customers.
Ugly as sin and probably not the way the unveiling of break proof glass was supposed to go but give him credit for pushing the envelope in all areas. I’m sure it will be another game changer eventually.
My immediate response was "it's a pyramid on wheels", but as the show went on the innovations and specs made the truck more attractive. Even the wife said "if we were to get a truck, I'd want the Cybertruck". I love the retractable tonneau cover and built-in ramp. The styling is already growing on me. It definitely separates itself from everything else, especially the goofy-looking Rivian. Rivian lacks imagination. At least the Cybertruck form suggests it is functionally aero. Except for the glass demo fail, I really enjoyed the whole reveal. A lot more interesting and entertaining than the Model Y reveal. Tri-motor and 500-mile range is just insane.

LOL, I agree with a lot of what you said here. My first impression on seeing it was "uh, what?". But 30 minutes later I kinda liked it, and this morning I like it more. It's so strange and weird looking that it's almost attractive for that reason. It just looks like the future - maybe that's why I like it. Something you would see in a 1980's movie predicting what things would look like....right about now.
I have to assume Tri motor will make its way to the cars, which will be just crazy.

Tri-motor is supposed to be in the Model S/X in a year. The Model S they tested on the Nurburgring against Taycan is tri-motor.
Have an appointment on Monday to take my Model S in for some vibration and motor ticking/chatter during moderate-to-hard acceleration. This will be the third service visit in three months. Despite that, still one of the best cars I've owned. Part of me feels maybe I should have bought a late model 600hL instead, while the other part of me wishes I splurged for the 373-mile Long Range S. The extra range would be wasted on a daily basis but charges faster than my Standard Range and would have required one less charging stop on a recent 650-mile roundtrip to Bakersfield, CA. So far, no range anxiety with 285-mile range (250-mile real world range).
