Looks like it's going to be a direct competitor for the BMW X1.

I would guess more likely the X3 since this is based on the G70 platform. Isn't the X1 FWD?

Yes the X1 is FWD or FWD biased AWD.

sounds like genesis is going to do three suv's to match the sedans... so there will be six models
g70, g80, g90 (sm, med, lg sedan)
gv70, gv80, gv90 (sm, med, lg ute)

i'm not a big fan of small utes as the second row is usually too cramped but i guess it does provide versatility when folding the 2nd row seats for cargo now and then, vs. a trunk.

I'm liking the new Palisade, can't wait to see the upper scale offerings for the GVs

Perhaps, but it looks a little smaller than the X3. We'll see.

Genesis has not announced any plans for a GV90 that I know of....although I might have just missed it.

Looks like it's about to be revealed very soon.

Where is the coupe/convertible and a performance line? G70 based coupe with the updated styling would be a winner imo. They need a halo car and some buzz.

So far i don’t really get their marketing plan to grow their brand and make it something aspirational.

Right now, their priority should be broadening their dealership network and severing it from Hyundai lots and facilities before they can even think about joining the dying coupe segment that is either underperforming or getting killed off even with more prestigious brands.

The SUVs will make a much bigger impact into shopping consideration and awareness for 95% of luxury shoppers. Coupe/Convertible is a losing proposition these days, even for the stalwarts like Mercedes who has said they're whittling those back.

Performance line, would also be great, but I think they're nervous about pushing pricing higher than what the new G80 and GV80 will be at. They definitely have the ability to with the army of ex Germans at their helm. Kind of chicken and the egg, but I think with a fairly strong launch for GV80 and even this GV70, they'll quickly move to green light next projects that would reach higher.

My 2 cents

100% agree. coupes look great, but 99% of buyers want something more practical.

This!! Having the cars sold at the lousy Hyundai/Kia dealerships is a losing proposition.

Well, that was more or less the aim of the Mercedes CLS and VW CC a number of years ago.....introducing a more practical "coupe" with four doors.

Also, there were other attempts at a more practical coupe.....the Saturn SC coupes with the half rear door, and the Mazda RX-8 sports car with the two half-rear doors.
