Genesis already has competitive FWD offerings- they're called "Hyundai"
Taking a luxury brand donwmarket with cheap rebadged FWD offerings is no metric for success, just ask Acura and Infiniti. Brands like BMW and Mercedes have to sell these cheaper FWDofferings under their own brand because they don't have a more appropriate mainstream volume brand to offer such products like Hyundai or Kia.
MINI (BMW) and Smart (Mercedes - granted Smart is RWD, but certainly not luxury)

Apples and oranges. They're niche brands catering to a specific lifestyle image that happen to sell compact and sub-compact vehicles, similar to what Toyota tried and failed to do with Scion.
(Hyundai Motor) Hyundai Motor Co. on Thursday unveiled the design of the GV70 SUV under its independent Genesis brand as it strives to gain a share in the high-end vehicle market.
The midsized GV70 is the second SUV model with the Genesis badge following the launch of the GV80 SUV in January.
Hyundai applied its "athletic elegance" design language to the GV70 following the similar aesthetic of the GV80 SUV and G80 sedan.
The GV70 comes with Signature Genesis design elements that include a deep crest grille, high-tech quad lamps and large front air intakes, the company said in a statement.
Hyundai plans to launch the second Genesis SUV model in the domestic market during the fourth quarter.
The current Genesis lineup is composed of the G70, G80 and G90 sedans and the GV80 SUV. The GV70 SUV and an all-electric car will be added to the lineup by 2021. (Yonhap)
It's the interior that blows me away. Honestly, if someone told me a decade ago that a compact Hyundai SUV has a better interior design than the latest S-Class, I would have questioned their sanity.
I agree! This look far better than the RX/NX. Its a proper RWD platform too. Great job Genesis.
According to C&D, pricing will start around 39K for the 2.5T and 45K for the 3.3T. That's reasonable, considering the kind of quality Genesis provides for the money and how well their vehicles are built.
Beautiful inside and out......except, IMO, for the tacked-on video-screen (should be integrated, like with GM), and what appears to be a rotary-shifter.

Yea, that interior design is pretty awesome. If the Italians ever created a minimalist interior, it would look similar to this Genesis.
But much respect to them. This is stellar!
*Unpopular opinion.... I like the new S-Class interior as well. Lol

Finally...an Asian competitor to the X3. It look very impressive and should be decently quick with the 3.3T. This thing is going to eat into Lexus sales for sure.

For sure....unless Lexus does a markedly better job on the next 2Gen NX...which will also be getting stiff competition from Toyota's own Venza, which has a number of Lexus-like touches at a Toyota price.
