2021 Genesis GV80
i don't see many gv80's on the road, but saw one the other day (lower end trim presumably with smaller wheels) and i have to say i really don't like its looks.
i think cars look worst in white, but still...
i find the proportions 'off', the odd triangular metal piece at the rear corners strange, the overdone chrome bits... just not a good looker. it's like an infiniti qx60 on crack or something.

As for the QX60, I think the all new QX60 is way better looking:
i agree that looks sharp! not keen on the giant chrome blocks around the (likely fake) tailpipes though. too bad it's wrong wheel drive.
but seriously, it doesn't matter for intended market, like the rx too.

Yeah the new QX60 is on the shortlist to replace the Pacifica when the time comes.

Genesis has great RWD mechanicals, but they must get the styling right to sell like hot cakes.
Last year, RX sold 115k.
GLE 65k.
X5 60k.
GV80 only sold 20k in its first full year, and generally speaking for Genesis, if G70 and G90 is any indication, sales will be downhill for GV80 over the next 6 years.
I totally agree with both of you.

Honestly the QX60 looks like an uglier, FWD version of the Lincoln Aviator.
They were literally production capped at 2K units a month for export. Same issue as Palisade and Telluride. And LOL, the RX isn't even in the same segment, just like the ES was never in the same segment as the 5 Series and E-Class.
Exactly.
Supposedly we'll see Genesis start building vehicles at the Hyundai Alabama plant this year starting with the electric GV70. That should help increase production, though if Hyundai was smart they would start building the Palisade here too. Even before the pandemic and chip woes, dealerships were commanding absurd markups for that and the Telluride.

Just like G90 went down and down, G70 goes down and down, G80 goes down and down, and GV80 goes down and down.
I suspect forthcoming G90 will not make a good debut either.
If my prediction is wrong, then I will personally congratulate you and TangoRed.
Let’s make a bet.

Also, G70 sold almost 4,000 more units last year than it did in 2020. G80 3K more than 2020.
The only time Genesis sales truly went "down" was during their Hyundai dealer network divorce fiasco from 2018.

If I were buying a vehicle for me to drive daily between the two, I would choose the Aviator. As a nice family hauler, the QX60.
For ownership, then yeah the QX60 is probably better. I think the Aviator is the first truly "premium" vehicle Lincoln has put out in decades. It's a shame that it came off the assembly line with the typical Ford factory woes which I'm not sure have been fully rectified.
