The interior of the 8 series is huge letdown- i think new X5 is better!
The exterior styling overall is not very good, especially the rear bumper.
The pricing is outrageous as well.
S560 coupe would be my choice by far.

So there’s no more 6 coupe? They just bring out a new model, call it an 8 so they can charge more?
i just don’t like or get huge coupes. Especially convertibles with worthless back seats.

From what I believe is true. There is a % tariff on 2 seat coupes entering the US. So by adding redundant rear seats, the automaker avoids this tariff which would help lower the overall MSRP.

And yes, I agree the S class coupe/convertible interior still blows away the new 8 series.

Rear seats are never really redundant, they can be glorified storage space that are very useful other than putting a small kid or your dog back there, like those in 911’s, they make up for the pathetic storage under the front hood.

They are redundant if you can't use them as intended. As a seat. But I see the use for them that you bring up. I think a 2 seat car is so much more interesting

Actually, if the seats were deleted, there would be more storage space in the aft cabin. Since the seats cannot be used as seats, they are redundant.

actually, I have seen 2 young kids sat in reasonable comfort in 911 back seats numerous times and they love the ride, small adult females too. Yes you have the option to delete the backseats if you wish with Porsche, but that makes the car LESS versatile, with seats, you have the choice of using them for little people(at least for shorter trips) or storage depending on the situation. Vast majority of 911 have backseats. Those solely for track purpose like the GT3 & GT3RS you can find have only 2 seats

Looking at that latest Automobile magazine, they had the new 3 series and the 8 series and I noticed the interiors and design is almost exactly the same, you really could not see much of a difference at all nor tell which one was the more upscale interior which is pretty disappointing considering 60K separates these cars. The interior of the old 8 series was much more different and nicer then a 3 series at the time.

I wish they'd of kept the 6-Series name and not sullied the 8-Series name

not comprehending what makes this 8 series worth its price, at all. lc500 seems a much better option?
