it is almost funny how uninspiring that interior is. They really need to work hard on making their interiors look luxury, not common design thats dressed up in leather here and there.

Umm Its Smaller than a 6series.

The non-M model has 523hp and 550 lb ft of Torque.
That is incredible!

The M8 will be pushing over 600hp.

Plus convertible and GranCoupe are on the way.

Have you ever sat in current 6series interior- its one of the best designed, user friendly and luxurious interiors.
This is an evolutionary design with more high end materials for ***** and various trim.

BMW is similar to Porsche where the interiors have always been same theme going back to 70-80s.
I personally love their interiors instead of the dumb 2 Ipads that MB does side by side.

Even with a Rolling Stones V8 LC is a milestone in both interior and exterior design. Pure marvel.

Funny fact is that 8 series is the first BMW four seater two door that has proper asymmetric coupe roof line that slopes up at the front windshield and drops straight to the trunk. BMW never had a car like since original 8 series. 6 series coupe always had a dome design. And yet even that roof line is not as sharp and elegant as on LC, it's more in the rank with Q60 than with LC.
Isn't the upcoming Supra powered by a BMW engine? Thanks wasn’t aware Toyota’s Dynamic force is actually Mazda's Skyactive!
Have they given up on making their own? And I just remembered the 86 has a Subaru boxer too.

Show me where you got that info from. Dynamic Force is completely different in many ways from skyactive. Sure, Toyota uses high compression just like sky active.

It is not. Dynamic force uses completely new tech other than high compression ratio. The sky-active tech is archaic compared to what Toyota has implemented in the dynamic force.

A lot of automotive brands have copied their interiors from BMW. When the 4GS debuted, its interior was a straight up copy of BMW interiors. BMW interior design is very straight forward and classy. The iDrive is the best infotainment system in the industry. In the more expensive models the materials and available customization are on a whole another level that Lexus can't touch. And BMW interior design ages very well, compared to lets say L-finesse interior design.

As long as there is this awful minimalist lets try to make interiors resemble a smart phone touchscreen fad and eliminating as many buttons and switches as possible interiors are just going to keep looking uninspiring, dull, plain, bland, barren, boring, etc and it will likely only get worse. They all basically start to mimic each other, big screen in the middle, vents, screen for speedometer and that is about it, you can't really tell what is luxury, non luxury, econo, what features it has, etc anymore because they all basically look the same. Not only that but they are annoying, difficult, and in many ways dangerous to operate in moving vehicles.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/20...hotos-and-info

‘’The new 8-series is slightly wider, lower, and shorter than the 6-series coupe’’

Both the wheelbase and overall length is 1.3in shorter than outgoing 6series coupe.

Google is your friend....

Great info here:

Design is a very personal thing. Some will hate it, some will love it, and some will learn to live with it. I personally think usability is not in question, form of design is. Stepping out of a last gen LS and into an new gen LS is night and day=revolutionary. Stepping out of a last gen 6 coupe and into this is familiar territory and a evolutionary upgrade. Does it make the product DOA, not at all, they will sell a ton of these as usual, but you can certainly say that BMW is not the pack leader in terms of design anymore, thats is still in Stuttgart imo.

funny how they are pointing it out already. It actually looks closer to the 2018 mustang which has a slightly lower front end.

The interior comments are basically the same LOL. The forums are lighting up with current owners weighing in as "they added 1 to justify the premium over the 7"

Porsche's interior has seen a pretty significant change over time. Porsche's current interior hardly looks like anything from the 2000s. However - BMW's interior design remained relatively similar.

I think the problem quite a bit of people are having with the 8 Series exterior and interior design is that it looks too similar to everything else on other BMWs. BMW does a problem, where majority of their cars start to look alike after awhile. Its typical design out in the front of the car with the typical A/C stack in the middle, the E-Gear, the iDrive, and some tablet screen. There's no soul or craftsmanship in the design like the LC.
