2019 BMW 8-Series
#16
It's a decent looking car but it also looks like a generic "big" BMW. I was hoping for a more modern interpretation of the original E31 8-series; complete with a long shark-nosed hood, narrow kidneys and headlights, and pillar-less windows. This is just a new version of the outgoing 6-series coupe.

Yes its an LC competition and S550 coupe.
The new 8series is Shorter, Wider, and Lower than previous 6 Series coupe.
I think Mercedes is the only automaker that does amazing big coupes.
I was not a fan of previous 6series styling and this new 8 while slight improvement is not great especially the rear end.
The M850i is a monster with over 500hp and 0-60 in 3.6sec.
The car also has Carbon components including roof.

Didnt know that was factory kit?
There was a point in the last decade where BMW interiors were very far ahead of the competition. I`d say even when Lexus launched the redesigned third generation IS, BMW was far ahead of the competition in terms of interior design. However I guess the trophy has moved to MB and to a degree the new LC/LS/ES category, where I see alot of reimagination of what an interior, the one part of the car you spend most of your time with can be. The current BMW releases have been a yawn and then some. Same ole waterfall borders in the 6 series were revolutionary when they first came out, but it just doesnt tilt the needle for me. The exterior, how it drives, infotaiment probably is flawless, but the interior design is REALLY boring. I`d say sit in a new LC or a S coupe and then sit in the 8.

BMW interiors are practical. Lexus interiors are nice, but the remote touch ruins the whole thing. Merc interiors are not my thing, and they are switching to touchpad instead of ****, which is pretty retarded. I wonder if BMW holds a patent on the rotary **** infotainment interface and Merc doesn't want to pay royalties?

So the 850i will be the TTV8.
Hopefully an M8 is in the cards.
Will BMW water down the 8-Series with a 840i I6 version?
IMO doesn't warrant the 8-Series badge unless a V12 860i is offered as homage to the V12 850csi . Otherwise the 8-Series will always be the 6-Series in my eyes hah

Pole Position
Of course it's a big deal considering Toyota is two generations behind BMW in turbo engines. At this point they better license 2.5 turbo patent from Mazda and show it in all FWD cars like they did with na Skyactive engine which became Dynamic Force or whatever they call it now under Toyota brand.
Even with a Rolling Stones V8 LC is a milestone in both interior and exterior design. Pure marvel.
Funny fact is that 8 series is the first BMW four seater two door that has proper asymmetric coupe roof line that slopes up at the front windshield and drops straight to the trunk. BMW never had a car like since original 8 series. 6 series coupe always had a dome design. And yet even that roof line is not as sharp and elegant as on LC, it's more in the rank with Q60 than with LC.
