So perhaps giant success was not the word I should use. But on this forum, there is pretty much an overwhelming love for all things Hyundai without the proper discussion of past sales and past failures, not to mention lower prices. . So, this Genesis G70 will be entering production while Genesis sales are falling year over year. I don’t see how things will be any different for this new model. None of the brand such as Audi, BMW, or MB are going to take notice because of this Genesis. Perhaps Lexus needs to watch out as they really have not succeeded all that much with their IS model.

That I could agree with. But time eventually will run out as the established brands fill in all the niches.

February 2018 Sales:

The G70 won't be destroying the Q50. The G70 is based off the GT Stinger and will probably be more expensive because it is luxury but the GT Stinger sales are struggling against the more expensive Q50 so I highly doubt the G70 will do any better. The bottom line is nobody is going to pay a premium for essentially a non-premium brand.

Stinger just hit dealer lots, lets see how the car does in a month or 2.
Right now its hard to get a decent deal.

As an IS owner, this car seems to fix a lot of the things I would complain about - a better infotainment system and more power, mainly. I also dig the diamond-quilted seats and door trim. I think the price is really going to be the deciding factor as to whether this makes it onto my short list for next go-around. Car and Driver has estimated it'll start at $32,000, but I think even for Genesis, that's a bit too optimistic. If I had to guess, it'll start at $35,000 or so, and top out just north of the Stinger GT2. I couldn't see them selling a fully-loaded G70 for less than a Kia-branded product.

I don't think it's fair to compare the Stinger to the Q50; the Stinger interior is not on par with the Q50. The G70 is a lot nicer inside than the Stinger, and I can see people being more likely to consider the G70 over a Q50 than they would a Stinger.

That wouldn't stop potential buyers from cross-shopping the two now, would it?

No. What I'm saying is that I think a person considering a Q50 vs either of these cars is more likely to be impressed with the interior of the G70, and less with the Stinger, even though the G70 and the Stinger are essentially the same car underneath.

I agree. I am considering one of these two cars. I love the styling of the Stinger, but am having a hard time getting over the interior design. The G70 interior styling impresses me very much, and would potentially pull me more toward the G70. I will have to evaluate both in person. I'm hoping the G70 interior isn't too much smaller than the Stinger.

I think the cars look awesome, not sure about dependability and reliability, but I think they're going to tap into the market. After all they have some big names that had a hand in the designing and building of those vehicles, so time will tell. Also the name stigma has alot to do with it, once consumers get past that I think they'll fair better. After all remember back in the day when Japanese cars were considered junk people use to laugh at them, now they're what standards of quality are set by.

I saw how you pulled away from the IS due to the small back seat. We don't know the interior dimensions of the G70 yet, do we? The wheelbase is about an inch longer than the IS, so perhaps the leg room will be larger, too.

Guys, for comments on the interior of the Stinger being sub-par compared to a G70 - I challenge this owning the Stinger and seeing the G70 in detail in person.

Materials including control stalks, NAV screen, some of the switchgear, headliner, HUD, tft screen, paddle shifters, door panel materials, leather, seat controls, pedals, secondary dash controls, and more, are identical parts/materials. Where the G70 is "better" is in its presentation of a more premium interior with additional stitching on the dash, doors and quilted seats. Stinger's (and by extension G70's) interior is more premium in materials than the IS and arguably better than a Q50. The G70, although does not excite me exterior-wise, is one heck of a car besting the Japanese and German offerings in the 50-55K price range.
