Toyota dealer would not allow me to sit in the Supra - just regular model not Launch Edition.

I just laughed and walked out.

Good luck to these horrible dealers that ruin the whole purchase experience with their markups and snotty attitudes.

Do you know about Corvettes at all? Go look at what discounts C7 has had since 1st year it went on sale.

They are going to make 50-60k units in first year. The dealer lots in 12 months will have a sea of them sitting and collecting dust. MSRP is a joke- you will be getting 10-25% off very soon. Chevy is not Porsche where they limit allocations etc - they build as many as possible and let dealers deal with excess inventory.

Right now there are still new C7s being built by GM which are being almost given away by dealers!

Supras will be much more rare because i highly doubt they have capacity to build anywhere close to 50k units per year.

That part isn't true, but the rest is. They are adding a second shift to Bowling Green to produce as many C8s and any derivatives aas they can. It won't be rare, but I don't think buyers care. And they will be discounted sooner than later. As for the Supra, it will be more rare, because it won't be around for long. I expect it to be canceled in less than years.

lol same thing happened to me when i went to see one at my old dealership... i was able to sit inside for a bit though while they were setting up their little barrier around it, and it's quite literally just a BMW inside in every aspect right down to the door open / seatbelt not on chime and lack of comfort / space

as they're setting up this thing i'm being my usual annoying self and saying what a waste of time this is, this car isn't so special to warrant this, it's not even one of the more expensive toyotas here (some sequoias and the Land Cruiser are more), why is there a BMW logo right here on the hood, etc...

the zupra looks nice but not that unlike a slightly more cool BRZ with some extra (fake) vents and air passageways

The trouble is that the car isn't that fast. The recent horsepower wars have produced new levels of average speed for performance cars. New 0-60 tiers should be:

5-6 seconds - not slow
4-5 seconds - decent
3-4 seconds - quick
2-3 seconds - fast

You have the GTRs, 911s, C8s, and EVs hitting low 3s and high 2s, the Zupra feels kinda slow. I think Supra faithful were hoping for something more competitive.

exactly... if you're gonna call something a supra and say how 'the legend is back', that means it needs to be just slightly faster than a GT-R if one pulls up next to you on the highway (anyone who wants to comment on that notice the careful wording of which venue it should be faster)

the GT-R no longer uses an inline 6, i think any supra fan would be forgiving of a TT V6 configuration if it meant such a performance level was obtainable, and toyota just made it's own TT V6 which would be a perfect candidate

Was the Supra ever a competitor to the GTR? I always see it as the 300Z TT, RX7 TT and Mitsu VR3000 TT while the GTR is on another level.

Well, I'll comment on it.......Legend or not, take it to the strip, not on the street, if you are going to drag-race someone.

Correct stateside it was always in the class as the Z etc....the R35 didn't come to the US until after the MKIV stopped selling. When the R35 came back it was way ahead of anything else including the Z33/34. Unlike Toyota Nissan had both the Z and R cars out at same time while Toyota just had the Supra.

I still like the 300zx TT better. Classic beauty. The LC500 reminds me of it a little.

And for what it is, the Supra is a solid car. It's just not what everyone wanted, and the timing was bad with the release of the C8.

Not just state side. Dont think it was a competitor to the GTR anywhere.

Yeah, GTR starts at $113k, Supra at $50k. Not sure why anyone would expect the Supra to be faster.
