I have seen tons in the Bay Area already. I see at least 1-2 a day on my commute to work.
I still think the Model 3 interior is insanely cheap for a 40K plus car with options. People that defend it for being minimal is ignoring the fact that its way too simple that makes it look cheap.
The acceleration of this car is probably better than 90% of the cars within its price/competition. But the interior of this car is literally the worst interior in its competition, in terms of design and refinement.

I agree with you. I have a hard time calling Tesla even a "premium" brand too. Its hard to with an interior that looks like a Model 3 and with fit and finishes that are worst than 20 thousand dollar cars.

Tesla Performance Model 3
3.5 second 0-60 for $78,000
Tesla is almost ready to start shipping Model 3s equipped with an AWD dual-motor option, so CEO Elon Musk announced specs and pricing for the new options on Twitter. The Performance trim Model 3 will sit at the top of the line, with 20-inch wheels, carbon fiber spoiler, black and white interior and specially-selected dual-motor setup available for $78,000 (adding AutoPilot costs extra). Musk said that its cost is "about" the same as BMW's M3 (a base model starts at $66,500), but it's supposedly quicker by 15 percent (3.5 seconds 0-60, 155 mile-per-hour top speed, 310 miles of range) and handles well enough to fulfill a promise it will "beat anything in its class on the track."
If you're not looking for all of the upgrades, simply adding a second motor for all-wheel-drive (and extra reliability – Musk said either one can drive the car if the other breaks – is an option that costs an extra $5,000, just like it used to on the Model S. Compared to the standard sedan's 0-60 time of 5.1 - 5.6 seconds and 130 MPH top speed, this one can do it in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 140 MPH.
These days, Tesla's other vehicles only offer dual-motor setups, which Musk explains also lets the company set up one for range and the other for performance, with the car constantly switching smoothly between them. If you've already purchased one of the company's electric vehicles, then you won't need to upgrade to enjoy another new feature: the ability to request service from your phone and have Tesla arrive to take care of it – no paperwork required.
Once the configurator is available – deliveries for dual-motor Model 3s will start in July

Cost of all options, wheels, paint, etc is included (apart from Autopilot). Cost is $78k. About same as BMW M3, but 15% quicker & with better handling. Will beat anything in its class on the track.
tesla marketing is interesting releasing this performance package. a few days ago, an article was released stating that they will closing the model 3 assembly line on friday for 6 days (https://www.autoblog.com/2018/05/15/...assembly-line/). I'm sure that bummed out many people waiting for their 3. they are definitely trying to cater to the "give it to me now; give it to me faster" crowd

The Performance Model 3 comes standard with all the options sans AutoPilot, and the M3 with DCT, the Competition Package and the Executive Package costs $79,245, so given the Performance Model 3's claimed performance capabilities (faster and better handling than the M3) I would say its price may be justified. And unless you are an insider you don't know if the Model 3 can actually beat the M3 around the track until someone independent gets to test it, so let's reserve judgement for now.

Anyway this is a blanket statement that is too broad. We dont know what kind of track, one that biases straight line or curves. But obviously, this is meant to gain excitement again for the 3. Elon has always been a guy to knock out convention and people's perceptions.

Also the M3 can do 0-60 in 3.8 Seconds which makes the Model3 8% quicker not 15% quicker than the M3. Musk is full of his own BS.
