Is it safe to say this is a make or break car for Tesla?

why? More expensive vehicles are likely far more important to their bottom line.

So why does any auto maker have models that sell in large volumes they should just focus on high end models.

I doubt Tesla is going to sell this at profit so there is a large difference there. I wonder what kind of supply it will have, more than Model S or less?

Yea I'm sure Tesla is building the Gigafactory with no intention of realizing economies of scale and making a profit on a high volume model.

If the model 3 is supercharger enabled, then this is really going to cause congestion at their stations. Way too many people will have teslas for the max 4 spots that are at each one. The model X was postponed by about a year so it will be interesting to see if they can really meet the 2017 launch date for the 3

Running out of charging stations is a good problem to have.

I'd consider one for the wife should our Cruze Diesel turn out to be a money pit.

I've already seen it. Looks like a Tesla. This model has certainly brought out the hype though! I'm not a big Tesla fan so I'll just sit here and wait to see how this plays out over the next 3-4 years.

This is Tesla's volume model. If it sells well, then tesla will have a lot to gain. new investments and of course sales #s to crash the dominating party by the old luxury makers

Im going to be disappointed if it just looks like a tesla. They already pulled that on the Model X and it kind of looks outdated to me already. That means this design hasn't really changed since 2010. It would be okay if they were whipping these vehicles out back to back but way too much time as passed in between

so it doesn't look half bad. The front end is very porsche like which is a good thing. The only problem i have is with the blunt nose. Interior is super minimalistic and looks good but will need to see more pictures. I do agree though that at this price range, it is a killer deal. Plus, there might still be EV incentives from the government.
