I thought about a new S550 before I bought the LS F-Sport. S550 Base MSRP is 92,500. I got a fully loaded LS F-Sport MSRP that was close to 90 K, for 82.5 K. I never like buying the first year of a next generation car. I think the LS body style is way sexier.
Good luck with maintenance cost and your MB. The LS looks better and is more reliable IMHO. My good friend was a Senior MB Technician for 30 yrs, he steered me away from MB because of the reliability.
Before I bought LS, I test drove a 2014 RRS with the start/stop technology. I could feel it and hated how it kills the engine, I didn't like it. I traded a 12 RRS S/C in on the LS.
MB, ECO Start/Stop system
A fuel-saving ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response.
Hope your MB treats you well. Nice car. Now a S63 is a whole other story.
They have reliability figures for the new s class this quick? Aesthetics are subjective and if we are comparing lets compare an s class in amg garb to the ls fsport, not a stock one. While the LS is pretty I think the S class is still a better looking car.

No, there are no reliability figures yet for the new S550 for obvious reasons.
after driving the car a bit more, i definitely want to hear you talk and compare on the overall space (cabin, cargo) and also the seat comfort (in a longer term sense)
That's such a beautiful car! I was astounded by the incredible interior in the burgandy over tan model i looked at. The material quality was head and shoulders above my car i must say.
I think you might have steered another direction on my next car!
I will update in about 3 weeks after I drive it for a while. I'm going to miss this car between April 12 and April 21 since my wife and I are flying to Seattle to visit our son and his family.
Didn't pay much attention to the new S-class until I see this thread and watch the video on Youtube. Very high tech. Gotta agree with S-class is the trend leader for other luxury sedan. Regardless of its reliability
