Default Lexus on wikipedia...

it's great reading.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus
might even all be true but seriously, made me nostalgic for the AMAZING advertising in the early years (champagne glasses and ball bearings come to mind) and the unprecedented customer service. check this out:

In December 1989, Lexus initiated a voluntary recall of all 8,000 LS 400s sold to date, based upon two customer complaints over defective wiring and an overheated brake light. In a sweeping 20-day operation which replaced the parts on all affected vehicles, Lexus sent technicians to pick up, repair, and return cars to customers free of charge, and also flew in personnel and rented garage space for owners in remote locations. This response was lauded in media publications and helped establish the marque's early reputation for customer service.
also:

By the end of the decade (2000's), Lexus ranked as the fourth-largest premium car make in the world by volume, and was the number-one-selling premium car marque in the U.S. for ten consecutive years.

My parents had a friend in the Florida Keys and I do remember Lexus dispatching somebody down there to pick up his LS400 after this issue.

Very cool. Shame this gets harder to do as the company gets bigger

My buddy Michael bought the first LS400 the very first year it came out ( BURGUNDY WITH CLOTH SEATS), and it still drives as smooth as any car today. Its a testament to build quality. Great cars, great company

Yes, much of it written by one of our forum moderators. He did a great job.

Let's get this back on track rather than potshots please. I remember reading about this in the news when it happened.

Actually, it rides smoother than MOST cars today. Ride comfort, today, with most manufacturers and vehicles, is no longer a priority in design, though some vehicles, such as the latest Buick LaCrosse, Chevy Impala, upmarket German ones, and, of course, today's LS460/600, have good or excellent ride/handling compromises.
