The more I see it, the more I like it. I can't wait to see one in person.

not at all. We have the lowest import tariffs in the world. Which is why our local automotive industry is on the verge of extinction..

Sadly Holden may be gone in several years, GM is considering replacing it with Chevrolet. You're probably aware of this though

I just remember cars costing a much higher number of dollars than here in the US (almost 20 years ago, though)

Yeah it's called big dealer profits

Ok we have a 30% Luxury car tax. But even if you add that it doesn't make cars 100-200% more expensive compared to USA. And we have less import tariffs and a strong dollar.

According to politicians in Canberra:
Western Australia Mining Industry > Australian Automobile Manufacturing

And with that in mind, what's the point now of retaining the Holden brand in AU?

So if that's the case:
Holden = cars built for Australians, designed by Australians, for Australians.........but made in Korea or China

those videos are awesome and the car looks awesome.
obviously we can all see bits of ideas from other cars, especially to me the audi a7 and even mazda 6, but still it's a great design.

since i don't speak korean though, i turned on youtube's closed captioning to see if it showed english. i guess it's some kind of translation that doesn't work too well.

I am a little in love with this new Genesis . What a great package. Handsome, modern, tech loaded, and priced and warrantied better than most in the industry

it is a great looking sedan, who cares if it's a audi rip off.

I'd take this over any of the outgoing lexus models that are out right now assuming this new design will start at about 35k. That would be a deal. U can't even get a base lexus ES at 40k.

but the current outgoing used genesis 2012 models are nicely priced right now. u can get one with ridiculously low miles for about 20k and that's with the full factory warranty intact. it's basically lost a 3rd of it's value in about a year. Great for the used car buyer, bad for the owner.

I laugh a little when people say it a "rip off". I dont care who copied who personally. I just want a good looking reliable luxury car that will keep me smiling when I drive. Its like saying I dont like that chic because she looks like Catherine Zeta Jones and is trying to look like her. I say right on!!

i fail to see a major rip off job

1.

rear looks like a hyundai.

2.
proportion is similar for sure. but most cars in this segment share similar porportion.

3.
yes, the crease does resemble bimmer. but it's also a major trend. this is where they committed the most 'borrowing'. not sure why they chose this route. probably because it's safer.

4.
it's a mixture of many design cues. i think hyundai did a good enough job to make it different. if it looks german than mission accomplished for hyundai.

my verdict - not the most original car in the world, but overall it's a handsome looking car. it's getting closer, but not there yet. i honestly prefer genesis' overall proportion over 5 series. i never once liked this new 5 series..

it will cause a tremendous headache to lexus and infiniti.

It looks good to me and if the price is right, it's a winner in my book. I haven't been in one lately, but the last time I was at a Hyundai dealership, I didn't exactly get the VIP treatment you get every time I walk into a Lexus dealership (and not that I would expect it). But a big part of the luxury car experience includes they service they provide.

The only issue I see with this new Genesis is the interior. Look too cheap with bare black plastic in too many surfaces and the dash looks very bland and uninspiring.
