laughing there's no signature infiniti round clock when lexus is now adding them...
Yeah about the clock. Maybe they've moved on since it's not that distinctive anymore.

If the car makes a name for itself by being an excellent product what does the numerical designation matter in the grand scheme?
They finally gained some ground on names then ditch it. You want to make things easy for the consumer and a luxury brand wants to draw heritage from the past as a car successfully evolves over time, the 3 series or ES can claim that today.

Don't believe their B.S regarding names. Its working for the tier 1 brands for decades, they trying to reinvent the wheel? It was a bad decision sadly. The G owners waiting all this time for the new car to find out their name is discontinued and its a Q50....crazy....

Should be a G50

I agree. Of all the things Infiniti needs to focus on improving they muss with their nomenclature. Still, I'm sure folks will adjust.

The hybrid model intrigues me, if it is the same drive-train as the M it will be very fast and fuel efficient.
May be fast but the M35h isn't very refined and fuel efficient according to most reviews. You should be hoping that Infiniti has improved on the hybrid powertrain in the new G/Q50.

GQ50 wouldn't be a bad name!

Link to Automobile Magazine story

http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_sh..._infiniti_q50/

If I read it correctly, the hybrid will be available in AWD (a win)

Kind of strange that Infiniti also punted on getting updated motors in the car

I wonder if VAG is going to sue for infringement? Q50 is very close to their Audi Q5 even though they're different types of vehicles. Nissan once sued BMW over the Z3 because they felt it infringed on their "300Z / 350Z" naming heritage, even though I don't think the 350Z was out yet. Might have been a year or two away. That forced BMW to rename the car the Z4. The Z3 was definitely the same general type of car as the 300Z/350Z was, so maybe the fact that they're different types of cars in this case will help them steer clear of infringement?

I'm liking this a little bit more. Grill still looks ridiculous to me however.

Hybrid option is needed and welcomed. That standard 3.7l sucks down fuel at the same rate 8 cylinders do.
