Default In Development? Lexus GS F & GS 300h

Some say it wasn't going to happen, but it looks like it's in the works.

GS F - 2UR-GSE 5.0L V8
GS 300h - 2AR-FXE? 2.5L 4cyl Hybrid (Found in the new Toyota Crown Hybrid?)

any numbers associated with both? GS300h and IS300h are certainly coming, I was told that by Lexus Europe 10 months ago.

Perhaps around 217 hp for the GS 300h like the RWD Toyota Crown Hybrid. I would expect around 38-40 mpg hwy.

I'm not so sure about the GS F.

Just throw in powertrain from the TMG LS650 and call it the GS-F already! Reusing the IS-F powertrain for the GS-F would be lame, even if it's up-tuned.

i wouldn't call it lame just yet...but anything under 525hp is a disappointment considering what the competition is offering up

I assume the GS-F's proposed 5.0L V8 will be a true high-performance V8 (like what is in the IS-F), not simply a GS-F-Sport package (chassis/interior upgrades) without the added muscle under the hood.

We've seen that in some BMWs in the past.....an chassis-oriented M "Sport" package without a true M drivetrain.

That's why we have GS F SPORT, but we need a GS F to be on top. Lexus is trying to follow the M and AMG performance hierarchies if you haven't noticed already.

I've been saying for awhile because of the amount of room in the engine bay there would be an F, just not initially. But if they are serious on making the F moniker a house name, the GS-F is a must for the stable

best thing about it happening is the possibility of trading parts with the GSF LSD anyone?

So the GS300h would eventually replace the GS450h ?

I don't see why they can't co-exist. Lexus needs to offer more choices like the competition do if they are to broaden their market.

I agree, more choices are welcome! However, if the GSF would be priced around $85 - $90K then I don't see the point of keeping the 450h? If buyer wants to save gas he would most likely get the 300h. Contrary, those that are seeking something more sporty would probably go with the GS-F, the 450h would not make any sense.

We don't know the numbers of either models, but I would assume that 300h would have higher MPG than 450h. And the GSF would probably be faster and more sporty than 450h.
